i feel your pain honestly i do,but being disrepectful to an individual is unacceptable.i had this problem with my trainer and slapped the lil punk in the face.he ran to call the police and i ran to the bus station ( ahahah) i quit the company and about to go with another.seriously being disrespectful to any one for no apparent reason will not be tolerated by me,just my opinion

p.s what company is this ?

As others have said already, hang in there just a bit longer or try for a different trainer.

I have a tough time with a "trainer" that has only 2 years experience. If I offend some of you, I apologize, but, save for a few exceptions, at 2 years, a driver is still very green, IMO. A 2 year "veteran" with the "I know it all" or "Been there, done that" attitude is a bad choice to train anybody and just proves my point. Hell, he's still trying to convince himself, as well as everybody else, that he knows what he's doing, when in reality, he's still scared ########.

Just my $.02.

Once again, thanks everyone, so very much for all of the kind words.

There's really nothing I can do at this point because we've come so far, but in retrospect, we should have requested a new trainer a long time ago. There's so many stories/instances I could tell, I just don't have the energy. Some are pretty amazing...some funny and some not so funny.

We've been practicing more and more each day with the backings. He's taking us to truck stops and we're doing the drills. Actually, yesterday was a very good day for me. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't happy about what I saw, it just made me feel better (as in misery loves company kinda thinkiing), but right before I was going to try to park the beast in between two other trucks, a Swift truck rolled in and set up for his hole. Well, it took about half an hour, and another driver finally getting out and helping the poor guy for him to get it done. I was sitting there watching in amazement because, for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what he was doing. The most interesting parking job I've ever seen. But, the point is, when he finally got it done, he jumps out of the truck, head held high, and be-bops right into the Pilot. I was totally impressed! I thought to myself, if he can go through all of that and still has some pep in his step, then so can I!

Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know I'm reading your postings every chance I get and I'm relaying them to my better half. It just feels really good to get a little positive right about now. We're both pretty depressed and unfortunately, it's starting to affect everything, including our relationship. (Hubby had to tell trainer to keep his hands off of me, if that's any clue.)

Oh! and today was a banner day! We got to shower! Woohoo!!! We're only supposed to shower once a week but we got one 2 days early this week!! I get to lay down and not feel disgusting.

Enough whining for one night....sorry I guess I need some cheese to go with this whine session!

I'm glad your smiling! Just remember, when your in own truck.....you can take as many showers a week as you want on your 10 hour break!

I feel for all the nonsense you both have been through, it just amazes me that all these high profile companies, would tolorate such stupidity. It really does 3 very bad things.....1.)You can not take advantage of the training in an enviroment like this, it more like just getting done with it rather then gaining the knowledge and skills needed to be a safe productive employee. 2.) You never really feel like part of the company, any company who does not have checks and balances in place to prevent this, would make me wonder if they care? ( believe me they care, as they have an investment in you and need you to perform when your taining is complete) 3.) It does not give you a very soild platform, to start your career.

I know you do not want to be known as weiners, but I really think after you test out and get your truck, you need to contact the people in charge and calmly discuss your experience. They need quality people like you and your husband to keep their business running. I' m not making excuses for them, but I was responsible for over 250 employees at one point in my career and sometimes things did not come to my attention..........and the signs were all around me that there was an issue....but the managers that reported to me often would just cover and say it was a non-issue. Until you have a true open door policy, it is very hard for some levels of management to see the real issues ,until a valued employee in the trenches feels comfortable coming forward and lays it on the line.

I know with all the obstacles you have overcome, you will finish and be successful....as I can sence "The Magic Word" .......Attitude!!

Be safe, Jonny

Hey Jonny,

Just wrote a big long posting then went to submit it and lost it....so I'm summarize this time.

Yes, I think it's because all of the obstacles that we've faced this past 9 months getting to this point, is why I'm still sitting here. We knew this wasn't going to be easy, and we haven't been disappointed!

We'll be fine...I'm sorry about the whoa-is-me posting last nite. I was tired and frustrated, but today is a new day, and I drove my shift without hitting anything (except a few curbs)! So, it's a good day!

We're headed to a terminal right now to finally get some laundry done (been 2 weeks and we're truely out of clothes), I'm going to scrub out this pigsty of a truck, then get somemore backing practice in and hopefully, get a good nite's sleep.

Thanks again, and you be safe, also.

Umm, I think I'll refrain from saying until I have my own keys in my hands. Hope you understand.

my hat is off to you for enduring as long as you have. i can't imagine being in a truck that long with 2 other people, and one of them being a jerk to boot. 2 years is hardly enough experience to earn the title "trainer"

backing and shifting WILL come with time. good luck
