Driving Record Question

Feb 07 i got a sppeding ticket in Ga for doing 72 in a 55. Ticket was paid but Aug of 07 north carolina suspended me fo 6 months because i got a ticket doing over 70 out of state. This is the only ticket/accident I have had in the last 12 years. Do you think this will adversly affect me getting a job in the trucking industry. I do not have a CDL or experience.

It might, most states consider that gross over speeding, and since you have a suspension that might be a problem..

Might not, though, DD - since it was done before he had a CDL. I think it's kinda iffy

Even though it was before his CDL, his driving record is still important. Nothing really iffy about this. I had two suspensions on my record prior to getting my CDL. One was 3 years prior, the other was 5 years prior (2000 and 1998, respectively). My only saving grace when I went to my CDL school was that both suspensions were for not having insurance. A wreckless driving (anything 15+mph over the speed limit is wreckless driving) or DUI suspension is most likely going to keep someone out of the trucking industry. The way most trucking companies look at it is if they're unsafe in their own vehicle, they're likely to be unsafe in theirs.

You've heard it said that driving is a privilige. Driving a big truck and having a CDL is even more of one.

Well if that is the case, then hopefully tommorow when I go to court for one at 15 over in my car I can walk away with only a equipment failure charge instead..

In case you might not be aware, you still have to tell the company about any convictions you receive even in a car now.

You're welcome, Panthr. Don't give up hope completely based off of what I or anyone else said on an internet message board, though.

Worse case scenario is that you'll be told to wait a few years (probably at least 3) before you can get a CDL driving job.
