Roehl or Con-Way

Hi all, im new here. I will be taking my road test this wednesday and should have my cdl soon, so the last few weeks i've been looking at a lot of companies. Right now i've narrowed it down to either Roehl or Con-way. Only problem is i cant decide. Im just looking for some input on these companies. They are both trying to get me to set up an orientation date but im not sure who to go with. Thanks for the help

I can't speak for Con-Way, but you'll be hard pressed to find anything bad written about them. As for Roehl, I had very few complaints and I am scheduled to go back to work for them.

Given your geographic location, Roehl may be a good choice. There is always freight running through Gary and being that close to the terminal would open up more opportunities to you. Every fleet option would be available, as well as training and possibly local positions in the future. Overall, Roehl is a good company to work for. The only reason I left was to drive locally and now I am kicking myself in the ##### for it.

Good luck deciding.

Most people have said they're both good. I heard from a Conway driver that they put you through a very thorough driving test before they let you go out. He said they got him out of bed at 3 in the morning and made him do a bunch of parking and stuff. Whether they still do that..I don't know? Could have been BS too? He was a driver and his lips were moving.

1.Con way is financially stable, good stock price and low debt compared to earnings.
2.Truckload division also hauls freight for it's LTL division which means more loads.
3.Benefits are better than the industry standard.
4.They have a new policy that you can transfer to a LTL terminal close to home if you get tired of OTR.

I'm pretty sure Conway requires something like 1 year exp. I could be wrong.
