My old 66 KW had a 4 X 4 two stick transmisson. Would start in 1 in the main box and 3 in the auxillary, then either shift to 2nd in the main box leaving the auxillary alone then shifting the back box to 4, them main box to 3 and back box to 3, then back box to 4. Next main box to 4 and back box to 2, then 3 and finally 4. Only time I would use 1 in the back box was if I could get over a small hill without shifting the front box. Always enjoyed driving the truck, I think the twin stick transmissons use less power to operate than a Roadranger, fewer gears turning etc. Mine the two transmissons were married, bolted together no shaft between t

Thank you so much for this. Perfect explanation. When I was 15 yrs old, I drove a 5x4 for a day but it was in a 1978 Chevy powered by a 427. Then watching all the YouTube videos and people's posts had me totally confused. Didn't know there was a difference between a gas or light duty vs a heavy duty. Awesome! When I was 3, I would go with my dad who drove a Coe make twin stick. When we get home from a trip, I'd drive my tricycle like I'm shifting a 5x4 lol

I’ve just started a 6x4 project truck ... got her home this weekend and working on getting her running and road worthy. Notice the brownie is very stiff to shift when parked ... is there any way to smooth that out? Is there a way to grease the rods? Will warming them up per the earlier posts make it shift easier?

    It's easy:
    One box is the main
And the other box is the auxiliary.
    If it's a 5 x 4.....
    1 gear has 4 ####s,
    Then 2nd has 4 shifts
    And so on.
    The truck is too practice
    How to shift quickly
    So as too keep
Your hands on the steering wheel

    Practice in your first
Then take it out on a slow
    Early Sunday morning
    With no traffic.

    Good luck

It's a thing of beauty to watch isn't it @TripleSix? I've seen that probably 10x and it never gets old

It changes the game when your job is to play with your toy truck. I'd be grinning like an overgrown toddler.
