I know that starting off you basicly just want someone to get experience from...but when you been driving for maybe 1 year...2 years...what companies pay the most and is the best to work for?...my instructor drives for Wawa..."That's a big convient store in the south eastern PA and NJ area"...he's getting $32 a hour...and he said he makes like $60,000 a year...at my age with no kids...I CAN LIVE WITH THAT!!!...:biggrin_25515:...i hear that working for the post office...and UPS pays great too...also i heard that Walmart pays great too...but what companies pay great?...how much?...and how many years of experience do you need?...also...say the division they haul...

Pay would be the last thing I would be looking at... I would be looking at how the company treats their drivers... Getting paid $100 more a week from a company I can't stand working for is just not worth it to me...

Still at Gless. Good for you. Always sounded like you liked it. I used to be on the board quite a bit. Burky was always a good guy to guide you. I haven't seen him on here since his dad had a bad car accident. He works for Bulkmatic and I am leaving transportation management and accepting a position with Bulkmatic as a regional driver.Burky always had very good things to say about them.Hope I have as good luck with Bulkmatic as you have had at Gless.

i think wal-mart pays in the 65K range to start, you need 3 to 5 years experience and a clean record to work for them. not sure what the ltl companies you have out there on the east coast, but that's where the money is. yellow, roadway, fed-ex, ups....and i suppose you have some smaller regional carriers in your area. most of them (on the west coast anyway) pay .50 to .58 cpm and/or $20 to $25 per hour. these guys are gonna want at least 3 years and you want to keep your record as clean as possible.
i work for an ltl co. and i'll gross 68K when the year is over
