The urine test for canabis is based on detecting it from fat a person's body has burned. It takes 4 -6 hours for this to happen. The import of this is if one urinates 3 - 4 times before producing a sample, the sample will only be fluids and no burned fats. Drinking diuretics like Pepsi, coffee, tea, cranberry juice 3 - 4 hours before the test insures there are no fat traces in one's urine. Diluting a urine sample with 50% water will also make it negative -- however temperature of sample is measured and often water sources in bathroom of test are disabled.

Good chart for rule of thumb. The issue with diluting is that some companies use a dilute sample as the same as a positive. They think that you are trying to falsify the test or hide the true results and therefore you are not someone who they want. They base the dilution on the creatine (sp) level in the urine. If it is to low it is considered dilute. There are over the counter creatine supplements but they don't work in my experience with testing. I have had a few very upset people who purchased those products expecting to get a free pass and were really pissed when they failed the test due to low creatine levels.

when I was looking at Schnieder Tanker they wanted a hair folicle test on Day 1 of training... is that normal? Its like giving a DNA sample, I dont like it, I dont use drugs but thought it was wierd. then they cancelled all the dec classes til the 27th and bumped me til whenever, with no classes scheduled yet?!?! SO I went Roehl and start on the 8th doing flatbed... more work but oh well , better than unloading a box... anyone heard of this test for bulk drivers?

I think cr England does hair tests. It's a better test than urine.

Better test??? Hair grows differently in all people! A hair test just shows that a drug has been used in the past. If your hair grows slowly, then a drug you used 6 months ago would show up. If your hair grows fast, it may not show a drug.....
All drug tests are an invasion of privacy. Did you take a pill your Mom gave you when you were home for Thanksgiving for your abscessed tooth? It will show up. You are probably not a drug user/abuser but guess what? You are pegged as one now.

well yeah I feel it's an invasion of privacy. As for my comment, that's what they say.

But for certain industries of work it should be required.

You can thank the pilot that crashed on the USS Nimitz back in the 80's. The president made it law soon after for certain lines of work( federal and safety) .

It was soon adopted to private sector...
