New Drivers please SLOW DOWN.............
You guys are not riving the hoopties or even the hot cars and trucks you have had before...............THIS IS 80,000 LB.
RAIN...............SLOW DOWN
SNOW..............SLOW DOWN
ICE..................SLOW DOWN
COLD(NOT SURE)........SLOW DOWN
CURVES WHERE YOU CANNOT SEE AROUND............SLOW DOWN.
I bring this up today because I was at the office today and their was a line of drivers who have had accidents this week lined up at safety. Listening to them all tell the same story of what it comes down too......
All of these guys were lucky..........most only lost their jobs.....you might not be so lucky, or even worse, someone else might not be lucky.
This is one of the hardest times to even learn to drive big trucks because of having to learn conditions as well as drive, but it can be done safely.
Don't end your careers, lives, bodies, or others.........

I've just started my career and this is my first winter, and I am very careful. My trainer always taught me slow in the truck stops, some guys are like they're coming out of turn 4 at Daytona. It's crazy. 1st snow was a heavy lake-effects snow in Indiana, not fun, but took my time and made it. The 1st mountain snow is going to make me nervous, but I had a good trainer, so hopefully I'll do okay. The mountains were intimidating in good weather, but I had a lot of practice and was comfortable with them, snow just means slow down, be careful.

Hey don't give away the secrets of the trade. That is how we spot inexperienced drivers! Don't tell them about pulling over when the weather is bad either! While your at it tell them the faster they go the more fuel they will save in their big pete! MY GOD! Some people just can't keep a secret.

Some knit wit driver once told someone they drive fast on snow and ice cause the truck tires are hot and melt the snow and ice,, he must have been on crack,, thats a big fat lie there.. please all drivers slow down in bad conditions and make it home to your families in one peice..If every time you drive your truck and act like its the first time you will be a preety decent driver,, the minute you act like you just conquered that truck your going to wreck,, please be safe..

I once knew a guy doing contruction that cut the fiber optic feed going to the AT&T building in down town Los Angeles CA(yeah, the big sky scraper). Effectively ending ALL communication to and from that building. When asked about it he said, "Oops, I cut the wrong cable".
The AT&T liaison was livid stating, "Your on the clock now guys(to repair it)... We(AT&T) are losing $600,000 per hour." (likely a conservative estimate)
I never did find out about any bonding claims... as it took almost a day and a half to repair
