There are a lot of people out there with a felony record looking for a job. Good people that have seen the error of their ways and changed. All they want to do is get on with their lives and work to provide for their familes, pay taxes and have a little self respect for their efforts to be productive in society.
If you are one of these people that have worked through this scenerio, or have information that would help someone in this position, such as knowing of a company that would give them a second chance, then maybe post the name of the company here so that they might have a lead on where to go in their search.

One company I can think of is, BST (Building Systems Transportation)out of London Ohio. They require 3 years past on the felony and they will hire recent grads out of driving school. They run Volvo's and most are pretty clean trucks. Small company (150 trucks) and mostly they hire local but a few of the drivers are from the next State over if they are located close to a travel route. Gray Transportation is another one. They are out of Waterloo Ia.
Old equipment and not a lot of miles but if your ready to pay the piper, they will hire you if everything else looks good.
McLeod out of Decatur Il, is another one. Some drivers stay with them but I quess I just couldn't get there with these guys. But they do hire past felons.

first of all you will prolly get a messege about putting a phone number in your thread, then you will get a strike on ya for a few days for "breaking the forum rules"...been there done it ...lmao.....anyhow....................

I can only offer you hope at this time for i walked a long road to get my life back on somewhat of a good tract..but that started way back in 1986....things were very different back then....people were more forgiven and offered you a chance to turn it around....alot of truckers did time back then and could get a job and support there family....

Today i am not sure...i would only be lying to you...

My guess is the way things are today and our society is not to forgiving, they will hold it against you and not offer you a 2nd chance.but thats my guess.....

For me it was a long hard lonly walk from the streets to solitary confinement to where my life is today....

But the way things are going today it would not surprise me that you will be black balled out.....

GOOD LUCK AND I AM HAPPY FOR YOUR EFFORTS OF TRYING TO TURN IT ALL AROUND AND SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY.....

My intent was to try and gather information and hope for some of the peeps around here that are in the same boat as I found myself in when I started this venture. It began when I asked the school recruiter if I could even find a job like this with my felony record. That was my first experience with someone that recruits people for profit. Once I had my CDL's "in-hand", I found out just how much stock I could put into his little pep talk sale. Not much, and not much has happened since then to make me feel any better about recruiters. They say what they have to say to get you in the door.
The road into this industry with my felony record was just about as hard as anything else I have ever undertaken. Very frustrating and long sleepless hours thinking about my decission to do it when I ran into the brick walls. It hasn't been easy. Even now with 2 years experience and a clean MVR, it's still no cake walk. But it is do-able for someone that will just not quit trying. It requires sacrifice and the ability to accept denial at every turn until a door does open. It's easy to give up and say to h*ll with it or you can show what your truely made of and take the bull by the horns and never give up. If it's worth having then it's worth working for. Taking the easy road is what got me into trouble to begin with. I've ate a lot of crap and taken some good hits the last couple of years but I'm still standing. It can be done.

The truck driving industry is "full of felons". This is one thing everyone seems to know and it happens to be completely wrong. In fact, the layperson seeing a truck driver probably thinks there's a 50/50 shot he's done some time. After all, who could possibly live like that unless they had absolutely no other choice??

Anyway, it's an employers market now, so it's going to be tough. Another one that takes AND exploits felons is Carolina Cargo based out of S. Carolina. If you have no other shot, they do a 20 cent team split from coast to coast.

paschall truck lines out of murray ky will hire you. they dont check your criminal background or if they do they dont care cause i lied and got a job there. lying isnt the right way to do things but sometimes it makes it a lil easier. they will hire you with felonys if you tell them about them too. i knew several felons that got hired on and were honest about it all. arrow trucking will hire you if they are over 5 years old i think. arrow trucking out of tulsa ok. i worked for averitt express for a while. they didnt check my background either. i lied on my entire app to them just to humor my mother in law and they hired me. i had about 3 months in a tractor trailer at that time and a few years in a straight truck and i told them i drove a tt for 2 years and had my wife say it was her truck and they hired me. if i hadnt stepped on a few toes i would retire at averitt but i did so i had to quit. opies transport out of some town in mo will hire you and not check your background. i never showed up for orientation so i dont know much about them. hope this helps oh and knight transportation doesnt check criminal either. they all use dac but not for your criminal. good luck

In reading these posts to this thread...I see there may be a glimmer of hope for me in the near future. I gotta get out there and drop, hook and book in sept. First have to get past that felony conviction from 15 yrs ago.

Depending on what the felony conviction was for...15 years should be good for most any company..even today..but companies aren't hiring in big levels so be mindful of that fact.

Lots of companies will hire you after ten years clean. And yes the offense will make a difference. Theft seems to be one of the bad ones along with drug convictions. Hell even a DUI seems forgivable after 3 to 5 years with some of these folks.
If you are willing to do the leg work and not be discouraged by all of the "No's" your going to hear, you will find work. I've been on the road now for 3 years and I have a drug conviction and assault charge that will be turning 10 years in a few months. As a company driver I am making close to a grand a week. I am planning on moving into the O/O arena before too much longer.
