I am leaving in the morning to attend ROEHL orientation Monday moning.
However, this morning, as I was packing,TransAm trucking called and left a message on my machine and has also pre-hired me, and wants to schedule me for their orientation on Feb 25th.

Should I call TransAm and tell them to cancell my orientation?
Should I call and schedule this orientation, just in case I don't make it out of ROEL's training, and not even mention that I am attending ROEHL??

Any advice would be very appreciated..

You need to pick one and go that route. You won't be able to finish orientation and training in that time frame that the other orientation is scheduled for. Try to play them both along and you might get your DAC dinged for not showing up for orientation.

    Lilbit and WiseOne Thank this.

Good advice, NoTarps! I agree 100%. I would call TransAm and let them know. Plus, you would rather Roehl compared to TransAm for sure! Roehl is a much better pick. GL and have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I definately do not want to risk having a bad mark on my DAC.

I was contemplating scheduling the Feb 25th orientaion with TA, but still going to ROEHL's orientation Feb 9th.
That would give me 2 weeks to see if ROEHL was going to work out or not.And would also leave me a backup company incase I failed out of ROEHL for some unseen reason.
If after several days with ROEHL I see that it is working out well, I could call TA and either cancell their rientation. Or if after a week to 10 days, I see that ROEHL is not woring out,or get sent home, I would have TA as a backup with their orientation still scheduled..

So how does one go about getting a pre-hire with a company? Is that something I could do before attending CDL school?

I have been wondering the same thing myself. How is the pre-hire done with a company?

you just put your application in on there website or paper then they run a quick thing through there computer, then they let you know if your prehired with them or not. its just basically a prehire before they run your entire application.

This advice here is pretty sound, but I can tell you that most of these companies will not spend the money on background checks and whatnot until you arrive because they know every student gets several pre-hires and most don't show up for orientation. I would keep them both and politely cancel the next orientation if things are going well.

Is it advisable to get your background checked before spending the cash for CDL school?

Is it also a good thing to get your hazmat endorsement right out of the school?
