I have been offered a local job that is two days a week warehouse work and two days a week an overnight delivery in a straight truck. I was planning to apply for an OTR job, I'll make more, and I enjoy been out on the open road, I've done it once before for 6 months.
I told the local company I would let them know monday afternoon. I don't want to turn it down unless all the otr jobs are taken. If not now, I'll definitely go OTR sometime in the future, so will it hurt my chances if I apply to a couple of my top picks, like US xpress, but they either decline me or I turn them down if I change my mind for this local? I don't want them to put anything on my dac or anything.
Can I lose by applying?

What makes you think you'll make more OTR ? Everybody's getting less miles now . If you were at it for only 6 months before and left most companies probably won't consider you anyway . You'd better grab the local job .

Ditto, take the job.

I thought if you had 6 months of accident and incident free experience you had a much easier time of getting hired by a new company or getting rehired by your old company?

oh, I see, so normally I might have an easy time getting rehired or picking a company, but the economy is so bad, it wouold be hard for someone in my situation?

Thats it. The really bad thing is the longer you are out of driving the harder it will be to get back in.
