[quote=kphire;947857]Hello:
My son and I are thinking about getting our Class A CDL's and driving as team company drivers. I have several questions if someone could help me out:
1) Who are the best companies to work for as team drivers? Look into CRST,heard some good and bad about them
2) How much can we expect to make as new team drivers..cents per mile and miles per week? As team drivers,you only make around 14-17 cents per mile but your doing more mile than a solo driver.A solo driver can do 2300-3000 miles a week,a team truck can do 5,000 to 6,000 maybe more.
3) Is it reasonable to expect we can make $100k per year combined? No,no one makes that kind of money during there first year.
4) How many days per week can we expect to be on the road and how many days off? Depends who you drive for,anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks at a time.Home time depends on how many days or weeks you been on the road.Most companies requirid 2 weeks on the road with 2 or 3 days off.Longer your on the road more many you make.
5) What companies are good for getting regional routes? Best bet is to call companies and ask,all companies are not the same.Some required you to get a min.of 3to 6 months experience before you can get a regional account.The onces that dont required it, are the onces you be put on a waiting list that can take few months or longer to get a regional account.

Thanks. Any other advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Keep the wheels turning,when a company makes you sit for hours or days for a load,its time to find a better company.Also get at lease 6 months experience before you change a company. |
