cdl school woes

The school name will remain nameless. I contacted a trucking company about cdl training and they referred me to a cdl school that i thought was owned/operated by the same company. Come to find out that it's just an independent school that they refer people to in my area. that, in and of itself isn't a bad thing. So, I go in there to talk to a someone. before i know it, the recruiter is showing me brochures like he's selling me something. All i have to do is fork over $50 for them to run a criminal/background/license check. he explains to me that all i have to pay out of pocket is $50 to get the school started, and in the meantime, companies who are hiring will look at the students and when or if the hire me they will pay(nice word for loan with interest) for my tuition to this school, which happens to be the low low price of $5,999.00. i know its financial aid and would be greatful for a company to front me the cost of a school.

the recruiter was telling me what i wanted to hear though. he said that i could make as much as i wanted because if you want to keep driving you can. which, is bs because of HOS laws and gps check's and balance, and the great reduction of miles that many companies are now doing. i dont know. I do want to get a cdl and get on the road. this forum has been invalueble for wisdom and insight.


and i just dont know if i'd be better off getting fafsa aid and going to a community college or biting the bullet and taking the cdl route. i want to get to work asap.
