You have much to learn. And there is much information available on the O/O threads and forum.

I'd suggest taking a few days (if not weeks) to go through that information, then coming to some kind of decision. It'll be much longer before you pull your first load as an O/O, so you have time.

You're going to have to decide whether to lease on with a company or get your own authority. Many, many other things that will affect your ability to find or pull freight.

I'm not even a trucker yet but I've seen one constant warning on trucker boards to new people and that is to stay away from leasing and going he O/O route. It might can be done but experienced people highly recommend at least getting OTR exerience and learning the industry well enough to make enough money to live and pay the bills starting out.

Today's economy is horrible for a new O-O. You really need to get a lot more seat time and observe your surroundings. I was an O-O for 17 years until 1991 and the rates are no better today! Besides, trucks are much more expensive to buy, maintain and operate today and until the rates come into line, you'll be working for less than minimum wage on your take home.

Please take your time and learn all the ups and downs before taking the plunge.
