Just to clarify, I was talking about one that plugs into a cigarette lighter out of the box, not one that needs a converter. I believe it is called "The Wave Box". Personally, I would go the route of a strong inverter and a real microwave like mentioned by Hardlyevr, .
12V microwaves and electric skillets ?

Same here...I bought a Burton Oven and it lasted 6 months, I bought a Road Pro oven that lasted a year but was never very good, I bought the new Burton Digital Oven and it lasted 3 months.
Now I have a microwave and a 1500 watt inverter and everything works fine and I don't have all if the cheap plastic truckstop junk bouncing around in my truck.FriedTater Thanks this. -
so ok I see a lot of people on this thread with those "lunchboxes" and I have to just ask what do you cook in those things give me some ideas folks?

I've posted about this before, but the best evah thing was a little (magazine size) vinyl "pouch" that I bought at the old 76 just over the NJ line from PA.
Would heat up, within 30 minutes to 2 hours, everything from soup/stew cans to frozen TV dinners. Fast food, it would keep it warm forever. Plugged into the 12 volt lighter, in the bunk or up front.
Worked on the principle of a heated blanket or hot pad. It never heated food up to where it would burn you mouth, but it definitely made it hot, not lukewarm.
I only ever saw it in that one truckstop, and never again. Why someone hasn't made another similar one, I will never know. I lost mine years ago when I switched companies, but I would pay out the wazoo if I could find one now-simply the best solution to hot food in the truck that I have ever seen, and I've been trucking (and eating) since 1986. -
Have you searched the net for this wonder of all wonders, according to you...which I have to believe...........

Yes, I have. No luck. Really, it was pretty sweet.

I have a crock pot with a seal-able lid so far. I thought about an electric skillet, but it's big. I saw an AC single burner, but it is only 900w and I don't think it will bring water to a rolling boil. (I was thinking hard-boiled eggs.)
I think I'm going to get a cheap coffee maker, and I'm really hoping to find something that will boil water. I love egg salad.
