Professional truck drivers spend many, many hours behind the wheel. It would seem that wearing proper, comfortable shoes would minimize fatigue and foot pain while driving long distances day after day. What shoes do you recommend wearing for long-distance truck driving?

    Thanks!

I find low-top basketball or walking/running style athletic shoes comfortable for day-to-day activities, but I was thinking a thicker or stiffer sole, for example, might be better in protecting the foot arch, etc. when driving long-distances.

I wear $40 steel toed boots on a day to day basis... Including driving my truck & riding my bike. You don't need any special footwear.

Don't do that either.... Some states consider it illegal & can ticket you for driving in bare feet.

    Hey all,
New to trucking but from years of turning wrenches I can absolutely tell you redwings are great comfy shoes that last awhile. Cowboy boots sure look cool though!!

After having horrendous foot and leg pain I saw a specialist several years ago. He told me the best shoes to wear are Nike air cross trainers. They give the best arch support and also are best for the heels and achilles tendons.

I wear them unless wearing dress heels or my beloved thick soled flip flops. (which are the worst shoes to wear)

Agreed, I wear Nike cross trainers and can definitely tell a difference. Shoes are a major issue with me since having some spinal problems a few years ago, and I've become very selective about what I will wear.

When I'm not wearing those I wear my Timberland TitanXL (titanium toe) boots, which are surprisingly comfortable, and very free breathing, for wearing long sessions. I've actually just pulled these back out and put them back in the truck to start wearing full time since it's starting to get colder.
