| We have the garbage police here too. They have to make sure the trashbags you're using are regulation size, shape and color. Now that's my tax dollars well spent.

| Pro1, I have never smoked, but my mother did when I was growing up. I couldn't stand it so much that I stayed with my grandparents most of the time to get away from it. I have never understood why a person would do that, but hey it is their body. I think some folks are getting a little off base with where my opinion is. If it is your truck, or even if it is a company truck that you are the only one that drives it, by all means. Knock yourself out. When the truck is shared, or especially if you are a team driver or slipseater then respect of the person who chooses not to smell smoke should come first. It is your right to smoke? What happens then to the right of the person who doesn't want to? Again, I own my truck. I don't have to worry about it smelling like smoke at work. I voted for issue 5 so that I could enjoy my life outside the truck, not so that truckers couldn't smoke. All my life it has been up to me to avoid smoke. My rights to smell fresh air were thereby stepped on by the smoker. We, the nonsmoking majority, had enough. If you want em, good for you. Just keep them away from us and all is good. It isn't about getting someone in trouble. It is about me and my family being able to enjoy the smoke free life we have chosen. It amazes me how smokers twist this around and talk about their rights being trampled. We don't want your smoke, and that was made clear on November 7. If that bugs any non-Ohioans, then so be it. It isn't your state anyway. Stay out if you don't like it. If you have to come here, follow the rules. Your choice. There is your freedom. I do get a kick out of smokers being so vain that they think the world can't go on without them. Wharehouses backing up and shelves being emptied? Come on, do you really believe that will happen? The smokers tried this tactic before election day. "Business will suffer if people aren't allowed to smoke", "I wouldn't go to a place that doesn't allow smoking". Didn't work. People figured out really quick that they couldn't just stop living because the cigs were cut out. I don't have solid numbers yet, but the restaraunts seem to have just as long of a wait as they did before. It isn't communism. There was a democratic vote. 2/3 of the people don't want smoke. Happy days. |
