Smiley 5 Policy on Smoking in the Cab?

Are there any companies that ban smoking in the cab during duty?

I am a non-smoker and would go nutty if I had to team drive with a chain smoker. I think this could be managed without getting violent, but if the smoker insisted on smoking when he felt like it, that would be a bad scene.

Re: Policy on Smoking in the Cab?

Technically, this is illegal in states that prohibit smoking in the workplace. Also, in those states it is illegal to smoke in your own vehicle if you are driving it on company business. Again,...workplace, stupid as that is.

Re: Policy on Smoking in the Cab?

In most cases they will not team a non-smoker with a smoker. Companies want teams that can get along and share some of the same personality traits. You won't always get along but they shouldn't put you with a smoker.

Re: Policy on Smoking in the Cab?

I am a courtesy smoker you might say. If I am traveling with others I will ask first. If they do not smoke and wish I do not, I do not. If I was teamed up with a driver who did not smoke, I would be looking for another team mate though. Stopping to have a smoke would hurt us both.

Maybe in California or Florida (and other states) where one cannot smoke Cigarettes, Cigars or Pipes in Buildings other than Abodes.
In California for instance, DOT deems that ones Truck cab is an office and that smoking in office buildings is illegal, so go figure.

I'm a smoker and were I nuts enuf to wanna team drive, then the other best be a smoker or too bad.
As stated in another post; "A decent company will not pair up a smoker and a non-smoker".
There are decent companies about as well as ignorant company personell.
It's not the company that is bad, it is the people that are of the company that makes it appear bad.

NO ONE can say one cannot smoke in ones truck unless hauling flammable hz/mt like fuels otherwise one can freely smoke as much as one likes when driving.
I have yet to drive a "no smoking in this" truck, and if/when I ever see one, I'll merely laugh and light up.

and yet one more reason for me to despise Ohio. I used to love hanging out in a lil pub just east of the T/A in Hebron. I won't be going there now.

Correct. You go by your home time zone for logging
