Sup all (new to the forum)
A few family members and I are currently launching a business. We will be distributing (online) truck safety equipment and accessories. (Domain: eztruckstore.com) I am not here to post a million times to come purchase our products or spam all over the place. I am looking for some help.
I am currently building our catalog and I need a photo for the cover of it. I have all but given up on finding one that I do not have to pay $300-$500 for until I figured I would reach out to the community and see if anybody would be interested in being a part of our project. Below are some ideas of what I would like, contact information (no spam or garbage please), and some possible ideas for compensation for your time/content. All of this is negotiable except for the fact that I am over looking at expensive photos. If you are interested please send me an email with any information that you require from me to prove my legitimacy. Cheers all!

    1) Some good angles and ideas of where I would like the photo taken from: I guess I cant post links in a message yet... If you go to shutterstock or istockphoto and search for semi truck. There are some very good photos of trucks at the grill or angled at the front- displaying the full grill, some of the windshield, and a little of the trailer.

    2) I would be willing to negotiate some sort of discounted ordering for some extended period of time, a coupon, or have your business/name mentioned within the catalog, or open for ideas/suggestions- negotiable...

    3) I can provide you with a few pages out of the catalog (unfinished) to show you what products we will be distributing

    4) I would need full rights to print/post on site within a adobe (downloadable) format for as long as is negotiated

    5) contact: Can we private message here? If not let me know and Ill post some information up here.

Ummm...a little advice from somebody who spent a lot of time in the photo industry:

Pay the money for professional work. A quality photograph of a large, shiny object does not happen by accident. I know you are looking at photographs and thinking, "Anyone with a digital camera can do that." No they can't. What angle are you going to shoot from? What is the light going to look like? How much of the truck/background is going to be in sharp focus? What is going to be reflected in the chrome?

Get a professional photographer with proper lighting, scrims, reflectors, cameras, etc.. Make sure the photographer has experience shooting automobiles and, preferably, semi trucks. See if he works with a stylist/detailer. If there are people in the shot, you should likely have a stylist for them too.

Yeah, it's going to cost money...likely more than the $300-$500 you mentioned. I'd take a guess, and my experience is out of date so it could be higher, of $1500 to $2000. That should include PhotoShop retouching though, as well as the required property and model releases, and everything else needed.

You are talking about the cover of your catalogue though...your prospective customer's first introduction to you. Pay the money for professional work.

Look at it another way...you don't hire a carpenter to fix your teeth, you don't hire a kindergarten teacher to drive a truck, and you don't hire a truck driver to build your house. You hire the proper professional for the job that needs to be done.
