Oh! what a list can be made here!!, You mentioned flashing your low beams?, no!, ether do nothing or, turn them off and quikly turn them back on, Takes a split second and wont affect your vision, If your traveling, lets say 65 MPH, and a truck starts to pass you, DONT SPEED UP!, If a truck changes lanes to let you merge!, give him/her the respect to let him/her get back in that lane, DONT play some sort of cat and mouse game with a truck, not to smart, a 2500 lb vehicle against a 80,000 lb vehicle, you do the math on who might win this game, If you need to exit the freeway, DONT race up to cut off a truck to make exit!, slow down, or if this is not an option?, go to the next exit, DONT follow to close, If you see a truck put on his/her turn signal to change lanes?, DONT race up to keep him/her from changing lanes, coming to a lane thats ending due to constrution or ?, merge out of that lane early, traffic will run more smothly than riding that lane to the last cone, just to get in front of that truck, If you need to change lanes in front of a truck, make sure you have a good safe cushion between you and the truck, If for some reason you need to hit your brakes?, If to close to a truck, you might not see your family ever again, It takes about 3 times the distance for a truck to stop than a car, theres more but this is getting lengthy

All great posts. he best way to piss off a trucker is to get in front & slow down. At gross weights...we depend upon maintaining "road speed". We may have 500+ HP & 18-gears...but @ 80#K....nothing accelerates quickly...especially if we're gearing up for a hill. Get outta the way.

Amen to that!! I can't remember the number of times just this past week, before the snowstorm, this happened to me. Car passes, cuts in real close, then proceeds to slow down. Then when we are getting to a hill, the darn car speeds up, me weighing 85K#, have lost any momentum, thus upsetting any traffic behind me because I'm now doing 50 up the hill instead of 68-70mph, rolling with the flow.

Also on the 2-lane highways where there's the Slower Traffic Keep Right Except to pass, lanes? If you're going to pass, ie; drive in the left lane, then put your darn foot on the gas and get the heck around. It's like some of these people think they are sneaking by. Like the car/truck they're passing is not going to see them. This goes for big trucks too!! Put the pedal to the floor, and get around them.

Right on about them needing to put the pedal down and get past us. Remove your darn cruise and move! I usually back off and make the whole thing go quicker for my sake not theirs, because as soon as they DO get past, they cut over too soon anyways, and there goes my safe following distance out the window.

If theres three lanes?, The middle lane is the safest lane (for a truck) to be in.

This has been said too but I feel it needs to be reiterated. Lately this has been happening to me also. Seems to be most common with elderly men and the soccer mom types. Heres the scenario. My truck is crusing along somewhere between 62-65MPH in the right lane within a 70MPH zone. I notice 4 wheeler approaching in the left lane at a slow creeping pace to overtake me, perhaps 64 to my 63. Then about halfway up my trailer, said 4 wheeler gets bumrushed by a wolf pack of other four wheelers doing 70+MPH. They realize they are holding up traffic and then finally get on the gas. They make it about 5-10 feet off my front bumper and then drop to the right into my lane. Keep in mind, I haven't changed my speed. Now instead of maintaining their previous speed of 1-2 MPH faster than me, they decide that my speed or less is much better and begin to slow down. Then to make matters worse, its like they get this idea that I'M TAILGAITING THEM so they start doing the old "flash my brake lights to get somebody to back off" routine. Thats happened 3 times in the last week. I've gotten to the point where I won't back off anymore. I usually respond to their flashing by flashing my brights. Thats EXTRA effective at night lol! Mostly, it seems to snap them out of their attitude or fugue and they begin to accelerate again. Except for one lady who I could see with her passenger fumbling around with something on the floor or in the console who continued to decelerate until we were about 55 at which point she found what she was looking for and dropped the hammer again, leaving me to try to work back up to my cruise speed.

What gives with this?
