Hey everyone...

I am happy to have joined this forum as I am very interested to learn more about the 'stories' of truckers. I am a documentary filmmaker who is working on a project about the interesting/untalked about lives of truckers. I think it would be compelling to explore the various different sides to trucking though the tales of real-life trucker's lives. No matter who you are, or how long you've been trucking, I would be love to hear your story and what your 'take' is on this line of work. Positive or negative, I think a collection of these first-person tales could speak volumes to an audience who has little knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a trucker. Thank you for sharing what you can!

Be sure to read the chapter on truckers in Studs Terkel's book "Working". It was a best seller in 1974.

I would like to see a documentary film that outlines to the general public just how important the Truck Driver really is and how the Truck Driver affects every aspect of the daily lives of the general public. For example, all the food that's sold in the super markets are delivered by truck, all the clothing sold in the department stores are delivered by truck, the gas that's pumped into the cars and pickups is delivered by trucks, the building materials needed to build new homes or businesses are delivered by truck, the raw materials needed to keep your local citizens working their 8 to 10 hour a day jobs are delivered by truck, the hospital supplies need to save lives are delivered by truck, the furniture that you enjoy or the electronics you enjoy are delivered by truck. The movie's you watch and enjoy would not be possible without the Truck Driver hauling the necessary equipment need to actually shoot the scene's. You see every aspect of the day to day lives of all American citizens are dependent on the hard work and dedication of the truck driver.

The only thing we have today that is not impacted at some point in its journey to us is the air we breath. EVERY THING ELSE has been touched by a truck some where along the line.
Even the water we drink is brought to the house in pipe carried by a truck.
