Well they do hit on me and it makes me smile, but some go way to far with the comments.

I get hit on to much, my head is so freaken big it is not even funny. But I don't let it get to the brain

When this item was added to the regulations, I dreamed of a worst case scenerio. Imagine a local driver who also directs a church choir. He receives a small honorarium for choir practice on Wednesday evening and performance on Sunday morning. These two hours are on-duty and must be logged.

In the real world, the biggest violators are small farmers who drive commercial trucks during the week. During planting and harvest, they work horrendous hours in the fields all weekend, then hit the road Sunday night with a log showing a 34-hour reset.

Hey, I just happen to be one of those small farmers of whom you are speaking and I resemble that remark!!!

Blueberries are somewhat easier to handle than some of the other items that you can grow, but still, trying to drive full time and farm can make for some long days.

I can relate Burky.

I run a small farm as well and I can tell you that my time on the road is my down time. I barely sleep all weekend working on the farm and then drive all week.

This is the good part of the year though. The cows have all birthed, no hay to put up and very little hay or grain to feed as the grass is up. But June 1st starts hay season.

10 hour breaks are like vacations. I don't watch TV or videos. I clean up, take a shower and sleep for 9 hours. Best part of my week.

I can't say much about this except farmers do have more exceptions. What they are, I am not sure as I have not ran into this situation in my career.

I would hope the farmers do get a break before they hop into the truck as their bodies have to be tired and would only tell their dispatchers they need a nap. NO driver can be dispatched if they are knowingly tired. You can however be written up if this happens several times "a pattern of habbit".

I will leave this to the farmers for the most part. Be good and nice to one another.
