Maximum Length

Forgive me if this has been addressed before. Is there a maximum total length for tractor and trailer? Does it vary from state to state? I`ve seen pictures of trucks pulling three 48 foot trailers. I`m not sure if those pics were taken in Canada or not. Just curious. Never seen anything like that in Texas. Thanks.

72 feet i believe for a standard truck and trailer

Overall Length

The longest road-trains are in Australia. Information for Canada can be found at the following link.

My size and weight booklet is dated 2002. Texas does not restrict combination length off the National Network. Trailer length off the National Network is 59'. Twin trailers are restricted to 28'6" each.

Florida allows 48' trailers in longer combinations with an overall length of 116'.

Idaho allows 48' trailers in longer combinations with an overall length of 105'.

I do not have toll road length restrictions.

A good place to get a quick rundown of individual state specs on this is in the Rand McNally Truckers Atlas. Each State has it's own limits.

Some lengths require permits, some are simply not allowed.
