Never had any trouble with it. It's in my wallet, right behind my social security card and license.

All the things I am required by law to carry.

JUST PUT IT YOUR WALLET AND FORGET ABOUT IT.

I look at it this way, and I think most company's do also: the med card is part 2 of your CDL. No card, no CDL. Any fool that doesn't carry it with his CDL deserves a ticket or worse. If the entire wallet is lost, that's a different story. But if he can produce a license and not a med card this dummy shouldn't be driving.

At the school it was drilled into us to keep that med card with the cdl inside it .. when asked for the cdl to give the officer the whole packet , that the med card is part of the cdl.

Here in California, if it is valid but not in your possession, you can be cited. If it is expired, either in your possession or not, your CDL status is not valid, and your vehicle may (most likely will) be impounded. When an officer requests a status check of your driving privileges, it does indicate if your medical exam is current or not.
