Med Cards

I'm not trying to infiltrate the trucking mob but i gotta quick question .

Do all operators always carry their med cards like they are supposed to? If they don't carry it, is it likely they don't have one or do I need to try to believe the one of many excuses I get.

Most "Pro" drivers I've met always have their cards in hand, usually laminated.

Thanks in Advance

my hubby was asked for his, and thanks to recent truck transfer was unable to locate it for the officer, they told him to have the company fax a copy to the office which he did.......A MONTH later we got notice in the mail he was being fined by the state of OHIO.

He had the card, office proved it.......it was an honest misplacement so I guess you have to decide for yourself if you want to beleive what drivers tell ya....I would have to guess MOST of them are telling you the truth, and it could be verified with a call or fax.....EVERYONE misplaces something at least once inawhile

NOTE>>> card is now attached to log book carrier !

My husband keeps his at all times. The company he works for, tracks & makes sure to keep them valid. A driver would be put "out of service" untill it was current. His previous company was the same. Not sure about other companies.
Like luvmyhubby said as long as they could provide proof via fax or something. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Things have a way of getting lost in the shuffle.

heck yeah, I carry mine right next to my CDL. I also carry my long form, just in case I need to prove that I can drive even after a lobotomy.

I always carry mine in my wallet.

I got screwed by a Utah DOT officer acting like a jack ### simply because the form the DR used didn't have a line for an expiration date.
I was well within a 2 yr period from date of exam.

The fine had absolutely nothing to do with highway safety and 100% about revenue for the state. And it WAS NOT my fault that the DR used a wrong form.

You're supposed to carry them at all times, when you are driving your truck.

I've been hit with the preverbial...you don't have it, you get ticket, you pay ticket...even if you produce it later. And that bites.

I alway put mine in my log book cover. So that way if I get stopped for anything, log book check, safety inspection ect. It is always right there.
