smaller companies

Are there any smaller companies out there.

Are they easier to work for? And if so, are they well known?

Yes there are smaller companies. The ones I am talking about
are the ones where you work directly for the owner. Probably
smaller than you mean. Usually you won't make as much. But
the advantage is, if your a good worker and make the guy money
they have less reason to screw with you. If you work for a big
company you have many more people to mess with you.Like at
a LTL company. Perhaps your terminal manager wants you to
make a delivery after you have been driveing all night. The
Safety guy gives you grief because you don't lie well enough
on your logs. Then maybe you have a shop steward...
Well you get the idea. Working for a little guy has its advantages.

There are many small companies out there, and as long as I am driving for a company, that is where I will look for a job.

It has it's advantages and disadvantages, but for me, the advantages far out way the disadvantages.

I have found I can run more miles with a small company, at least the one I have experience with, and I get far less hassle over things. At the same time though, the company puts a large amount of faith in you to get the job done in crucial situations. I won't go anymore into that as I don't want to open up a can of worms over logs, hours of service, and all that annoying junk.
