Really, if a car runs into the rear of your truck ,you will not be at fault, unless you just pulled out in front of them or changed lanes in front of them. In that case you infringed on their right of way. I know a lawyer would be able to sue the company for you if they did anything against you for getting rear-ended and you did nothing wrong. Flashing you lights for know reason would make some car drivers mad or cause them to think you are messing with them. They might think you have a problem and call the police. Just slow down a little and don't worry about it unless they are really close, in that case pull over and take a little break. As long as you run a few miles per hour below the speed limit most cars won't tailgate very far, even if they want to draft they will pick a faster truck. And if you brake, they can out-brake you. If you want to draft a truck with your car you can follow 2 or 3 seconds behind and still get a draft. You will be able to stop before the truck but if you follow too close you might hit something laying in the middle of the road that the truck straddled over. Also the truck might throw a tire cap and that might tear off the mudflap bracket and it might fly into your windshield! |

| Why would it be the truckers fault if someone rear ended them. If a car rear ends another car it is almost always at fault for following too close. Why would it be different for truckers? |

The posters saying it was the drivers fault mean that the company blames the driver. Even if Law enforcement does not.

| [quote=K C;215017]I don't mind the "drafting" cars behind me as much as I mind the ones who follow, about 100 feet back, with their BLINDING HALOGEN HIGH-BEAMS ON!!!! Grrrr... That is my all-time pet peeve! This is one problem I don't have until I start on our own truck and may not have that problem then either because I'm seriously thinking of wiring some loading lights on ours too lol. We have very bright loading lights on the bottom/back of the trucks we drive due to having to back up under our loads in the dark. If someone is following with high beams all I have to do is flash them quickly off and on and they get the point.

| drafting barely has a use if you're not trying to max your speed, you'll save gas by not slamming on your pedals every 5 seconds you're not on a race track |
