WHY is it that the 4 wheelers a few cars back will look at you, and when the others a head of them pull thru the intersection they run right up into the space that was just left that I needed for turning????????????? Are 4 wheelers that brain dead?????????????????????? Apparently so. Only about 1 in 10 seem to be on the ball at this particular intersection I have to go thru 3 times a day.
I think I gave another one a very valuable lesson on pulling past the white line even as I was turning left thru this same intersection. I came the closest to running over a hood that I ever have. And yeah, he backed up quickly. Only mere inches to spare.
Brickman,
LOL...I have seen hubby do this lots of times, we where sitting in the TURNING lane trying to turn into a wal-mart one day, and this lady in her fancy BMW SUV was sitting there pulled up all the way to the end of the drive looking stupid at us, Scott turned and came inches from her hood, and I swear, she backed up so fast, she left half of her rubber off of her tires on the pavement....LOL

And he just told me that lots of times, he has turned a corner, and stopped his trailer right there in the middle of thier grill and they are sitting thier looking scared and shaking, and he looks at them, like, well, you need to back up now....LOL

And I'll sit right there in the middle of the intersection unto; they move too. Although that's less of a problem anymore since I only pull a 33' trailer.

Mack,
Yep, hubby does that also, and it's fun for us to do, since we pull 48 foot flatbed spreads...he puts that hood between the axles....LOL...You should see the looks on some people's faces when he does that....LOL

Well it comes down to me being the best driver I can be. I can't stop other peoples stupidity so I do my best to maintain full situational awareness and be ready for when things go down the crapper. It helps that I've had a motorcycle license since 1972, so extreme paranoia in traffic is a way of life for me.

One of the things I like about running primarily Southeast is that I rarely have to deal with 4-wheelers being too stupid to not give me room to make a turn. They are very quick to back up or get out of the way somehow in most cases.
This may be due to the large amount of log trucks around here. Get in there way, go ahead, I dare you.

comming out of one of those industerial parks it was one lane in one out onto a oneway street with a parkway in the center. it was so narrow in the dive you had to get into the enterance lane to swing wide. put on flashers foing up drive then right turn signal. checked mirrors. 85% thru turn heard crunch and horn. fourwheeler was half under trailer tire!
Her excuse? I'm meeting my husband for lunch and he only gets a half hour." I HONKED TO LET YOU KNOW I WAS SQUEEZING BY. I'M IN A HURRY". No believe it or not we didn't get the ticket but neither did she. it was on private property. Lots fo damage to her car, scrape on tralier . Cop actually took our side. Being in a hurry actually cost her over an hour . Hope she tought it was worth it. By the was firs incident in over 20 years.

I will have to say, years ago when I first got my license (and was young & dumb lol ) I didnt have much respect for truck drivers, I just didnt care because I always see them as they "think they own the road". Well that all changed when I married a truck driver, and then when I have gone with him on trips. I now have the most respect for them, I stay behind them so they can see me and if I am going to go around them I always make sure I am far enough behind them so they can see me before I pull out and then when pulling in front of them I go wayyyyy ahead before i pull over. I have seen some crazy stuff being with him and wonder are the people in the 4 wheelers suicidal? I just cant understand.....

A lot of the dumb 4-wheelers you see out there don't know the difference between aggressive and assertive driving. I scowl anytime I see another fellow 4-wheeler practically cut truckers off on a 2-lane. I try and respect truckers as much as I can to make up for idiots, but I doubt it makes a dent.
