One of these guys/gals could trip/stumble at any time, and I would like to increase my chances of being able to stop.

To a point someone else made, it infuriates me more to see a truck driver tailgating and making idiotic passes than when I see a 4 wheeler do it. I had and England driver just two days ago pull out and try to pass me in a construction area as the lanes were merging into one. Why? I guess because I was leaving too much of a safe distance between me and the other vehicle. Well, needless to say, she didn't make it passed me before running out of room and sent a Schneider egg flying before getting stopped.

The "idiot" ratio on the highways just keeps increasing.
Alot of these drivers are new and think that they have to deliver on time no matter what. There dispatcher/company makes them think they must or they'll get fired.
My construction area story: I think it was I70 in Colorado. Road crew had signs out for 6 - 7 mile that it was closed down to 1 lane. Everyone(cars and trucks) within about a mile of getting to the construction was getting into 1 line. We all each sat in line and took our turn(10 min in the line)I had gotten about 200 yrds from where the actual construction was and looked in my drivers mirror. Low and behold her come a guy in a big SUV up the left lane, passing everyone. He didnt stop till he was at the end of the left lane and he forced his way in front of me. Then had the audacity to flip me the finger. If were as an aggressive driver as this guy, I would have been doing 20 years for running him over. Gladly I exercised some forgiveness and forgot about this morons discourtisy to all his fellow drivers. Problem is now(4 years later) it seems as though the bad drivers out there have exploded. And not just 4 wheelers either.

It's like big dogs and little dogs. Little dogs yap yap yap and make a nuisance of themselves. Big dogs sit still and quiet because they knew they kick tail. Trucks are the equivalent of a St Bernard and 4 wheelers are like chihuahuas.
