Do you run just in one area or national?

I run all over and it does not go off. I have run Cobra 29's for 8 years and not one of them has unless the channel is set. This is my third radio.

I work in the same area every day, but I can pick up transmitters on 3 different channels. I forgot to mention one thing. When an alert gets issued it only goes out over the channels on which a station broadcasts that's operated by the agency that issued the alert, such as the National Weather Service in Sterling VA, Mt. Holly NJ, or State College, PA.

For example, the station WXM42 is in Hagerstown MD, broadcasting on 162.475 Mhz, and is operated by the National Weather Service in Sterling, VA. You won't hear storm warnings in say, Chicago, but alerts issued by State College PA may be broadcasted on that station because it's a nearby area.

I understand that. My radio was set listening to the weather in Jamestown, ND. About 3 hours later I was getting close to Minot, ND. The weather there is on a different one of the 7. I am a trained weather spotter and was getting concerned over the cloud formations to the southwest and the way the wind was going. I started changing the stations on the radio and then found the one talking about the tornado warning. The alert never went off.

I know the alert function works, because I set the radio at night and then turn it off. The alert has went off many times waking me up.

I have a Uniden w/ weather & mine has scared the CRAP outta me with that alarm goin off! Man that alert is L>O>U>D !!!!
On the Unidens you can be listening to the CB but, your weather knob must be set on a local weather station to pick up the alert.
The first weather CB I ever saw was on a friend's truck that I was driving . I had never used a weather CB , let me warn you when that alert goes off .....YOU WILL HEAR IT . I thought something was wrong with his truck !

That is my point. It was the end of the alert. I heard them say they were returning to the regular programming.
