police, NY vs other states

Any one else get angry when they cross into NYS? I just don't like the aggressive police situated so densely on 81 and 90. NYS should be having them stop some of the murders in Rochester rather than sitting in Junius Ponds twiddling their thumbs.

Not a bogus ticket - DOT says you need the Company name, location and DOT number on the doors. Thems the rules. Never had any problem with NY or NYC police, and I live in NY and drive out of here.

Personally, I admire the guys. I've only had one run in with them. And the officer went above and betond to avoid writting me a ticket.

No ...Notta...None in Law enforcement has ever treated me with as much respect, than this guy did.

I paid the ticket the next trip home.

I primarily drive in nys.

MY truck does 73mph, and I drive 73 right by the troopers and they leave me alone.

That being said, NYSP are the most unproductive law enforcement unit in the state imho, the nysp do nothing but traffic duty, and set up dot checkpoints. The NYSP makes MILLIONS for the state in ticket $$$....

Problem in rochester is the Cheif turned mayor, Duffy, is a hopeless liberal who will never properly fight crime, we might as well still have Johnson in there. Rochester PD officers walk on egg shells, they are so scared of being run through the ringer by the local government they just get by, there is no real PROACTIVE policing in rochester imho....they simply respond to calls and go to clean up the mess.

There are soooo many "citizens" filing complaints about everything we do, so the end result. Many proactive police have become firemen (no disrespect), just wait for the call.

Good policemen/women who were once proactive crime fighters are now sitting back because they fear any move they make will cost them their career. The upper brass and gov't now make examples of cops who have made a mistake, instead of supporting them.

As far as trucks go- I've done 6 Level 1's this week. Only wrote one ticket. The truck was found to have intermittent brake lights. The operator told his employer several times and listed it on his pre /post trip for over three(3) weeks.

Don't judge an entire occupation by one.

The only 2 Cops I ever got disrespect from in 1.5 million miles was in Sparks Nevada on 2 different occasions. Not bad I'd say. Got stopped once for tailgating a car on the way from Houston to the Valley and it was because the guy sped up each time I tried to pass him. The cop stopped me and I was screaming mad and he said, "Well we can either write a ticket or wait til he gets home. He just lives down the road a mile or 2 and we don't want anyone killed". Cooled me right off.

Only once did I ever have a "bad" run in with a state boy....

illinois - at a weigh station (troy?) I believe on I70

He must have been having a bad day is all I can figure because the negative / smart elec stuff started as soon as I walked in the hut.

dunno - as far as judging the "craft" by the actions of one - I too hate the stereotypes placed upon drivers....

I know I am neater in appearance than most - and I hate to see a guy walking around a pilot in nast sweatpants with food dried to his shirt etc etc

the public sees this and says AHHHHH a trucker!

makes me cringe.

Thats the point I was going to make to the new drivers. I have
been pulled over many times for speeding in the last 10 years, yet
not one speeding ticket. Why? I believe my milatary background and
upbringing play a large part. When I get pulled over I give the cop
the respect he wants, answer his questions without suggesting he is
an idiot, and even if I think he is wrong I don't challenge him. Basically
I know when I get pulled over he has the power to effect my paycheck.
I have dodged enough drunk drivers over the years to apreciate him
being out there so its not hard for me to act civil to him. I really think
my short haircut and clean neat appearance help him to identify with
me also.
