What's with all you guys not using turn signals and 4 ways?

I'm posting this here but I've been OTR for 2 yrs. I almost hit a truck coming out of a rest area because I couldn't tell it was moving back onto the hwy, other trucks were parked there and I think he was just coming from an outside parking spot. And no 4 ways at truck stops and docks tells me you are manuevering around a pothole, not backing 80 ft. It is worth it to save changing a light if you hit someone and lose your job?
I want to walk by and smack the truck with my hand and tell them they should've used 4 ways as I limp by sometimes. You need to catch peoples eyes. I take my 10 year old and wife with me, they like to walk and jog around, not where a truck would be but these guys need to be more safety conscious. A was also coming up quite fast on a Schneider tanker one time because I didn't realize he was going 35 and I was looking for something. 4 ways would've definately helped. I knew he was slower and was going to pass, by the time other traffic went around me as I watched my mirrors, I was almost hard braking because of it one time. When I'm heavy as soon as I see a hill, I hit my 4 ways. When someone needs to pass, I slow down a little, I use turn signals as early as possible and 4 ways when backing or driving around lots so people can see me before they need to see me. What's the deal?

Hey, hey, hey -- we can't have this kinda stuff with truckers. You do this, and you won't be able to pick on us four-wheelers anymore. And if you can't pick on four-wheelers, what would you do for entertainment?

Yeah, I have often wondered why so many truck drivers don't seem to understand what turn signals and four-ways are for. I have had the same thing (running up on a slow truck) happen so many times, mostly because I ran I-77 a lot, and I couldn't believe how many don't have the sense to keep their slow truck in the right lane, or learn to use four ways.

Along the same lines, I really love when someone walks behind my truck as I am backing into a dock, even though I have my four ways on.

And Ducks, all we need is something to complain about, wether it is four wheelers or trucks, could matter less!

I personally believe we developed language because of our deep inner need to complain. ~ Jane Wagner

After riding in the passenger seat for two yrs before learning to drive the truck i noticed how times have changed. I have seen trucks that i swear didn't come with turn signals. ugh... and the flashers. to me it is just something that should be done to let the other trucks etc know what you are doing.. Most of us know what the flashers mean in a parking lot. It seems of late though that the courtesy of doing this has just passed so many by, they are in to big of a hurry, to rude to do it. Guess they will learn someday probably the hardway though.

The lack of turn signals and the 4 ways when running slow has become a way of life.

I have seen a truck sitting on the shoulder, just pull out into traffic, no signals, no 4 ways. Cars and trucks forced to move quickly to another lane.

Unfortunately, if you use turn signals, most cars and alot of trucks now, will not let you out. It has become a free for all on the highways.

Rudeness on the road.

But if we use turn signals or 4 ways that will give folks an idea of what we intend to do. Isn't that giving THEM the advantage?

Ok, seriously this is a problem that seems to me to be getting worse. In fact, overall driving, seems to be getting worse, whether its four wheelers or eighteen wheelers we are talking about.

It seems that so many of us have lost any thoughts of courtesy toward others. Particularly when behind the wheel.

Seems it is actually unusual to find drivers showing professional courtesy any more.

I believe to many of the "new" truckers are super truckers - they are out there with this huge amount of metal, power (they think) and way to much testostorone (oops spelling). I know my experience has been, certain truckers don't signal, don't give you time to move and then when you look up - their laughing thier fool heads off! I have 3 kids in the vehicle with me most of the time - trucks are way bigger than me and I know whoever is in there is doing a job - so I make every effort to stay out of their way. Please, use the same "courtesy" I give you. (yep, there's that word again). Be safe everyone.
