| Ditto. Dude if you're really that tired, that hot load of freight, can just wait. No load is worth your life, career, family, friends, or other drivers on the road. Pull over, you'll be glad you did in the long run. Running till you're exahsted is a short term gain, long term loss.

| Hey there ya'll! Wow what a great response. I definately agree sleep would be the best thing. The reason I asked is that once or twice a year I drive from NC to NY to see my family and I usually leave around 5 or 6 AM because I have 2 kids. They usually go right back to sleep till around 10 or so then we stop eat, stretch our legs etc. I just know that on some of those long trips I get so sleepy. It's a 12 hour drive for me. Maybe I just get so tired because I'm not used to driving long stretches like that. Thanks for all your great responses. Love the one about the 12 volt! LOL Made me laugh early this am!

| Well that's a bit diffrent then isn't it..... Hmmm Well in the case of the traveling family: When you break for lunch, eat a light meal. If you start to get tired in hour 8... A splash of cold water on your face usually will get you're blood pumping. Don't ask me why it works, but it does, brush your teeth, use mint flavored tooth paste. Make fists with your toes, and stretch your back. Grab a cold shot of starbucks double shot, and a cold soda, or tea. Cold drinks will actually help you stay awake in the evening, as opposed to a warm cup of coffee, or hot tea, that will relax you. Hope these help.

| I find on long motorcycle trips that when I am starting to nod off that gatorade or something similar helps to perk me up too. Yup, like FoxHunt said, eat light. Snack on fruits and veggies rather than solid hearty meals. Those are the sleeping pills you dont want! Maybe try playing games with the kids... I spy, or something similar? |

| If you are tired enough that you need coffee or something to keep you awake then you need to go to bed. I do find that in listening to talk shows, old time shows on XM Radio...time goes by quicker.

| OK...I have a serious tip for you. Eucalyptus oil. Really, no lie. No, you don't drink it, you simply inhale the fumes. It actually works to keep you awake...why, I don't know. They did a test with it(on truck drivers, ironically), and I tried it. It can do the job.
