I agree with BroncRider, Montana or south of Yellowstone park in Wyoming. A 2 bed 2 bath duplex will rent for 7-800 here in Helena. I moved to North Florida from Illinois in 1999, Made it 5 years before i got the hell out of dodge!!! Heat, Humidity, Bugs, wife was on 6 prescriptions and 2 allergy shots a week, school system is pitiful Etc. Hell my kindergartener and 2nd grader were 2 years behind when we left Florida!!! I was there at X-Mas time and i can say i don't miss it one bit. 2 below zero here tonight but nice and calm and man can you see the stars in the sky!!!! Oh and BTW, NO SALES TAX HERE!!!!

Look on the bright side of things.

We will not have to travel half way around the world anymore to fight Socialism and Communism.

We can do it right here at home from our front porches and in the streets of our own nation.

Fight for Liberty will not be a slogan of a noble idea but a reality of daily life.

Socialism and total Government control are not knocking at the door anymore, they have walked in, invited by the huddled masses who are determined to "vote"themselves the things they want.

I shot video of funnel-clouds (several of them consecutively) one January in New York, just a stones throw from Lake Ontario. Temp was -5 degrees. If I can find them, I will post them. Really bizarre.

for me montana, wyoming, or idaho, why? because it is beautiful and i am from minneapolis with a lotttt of people. It would be really nice to get away from a lot of crazy people. I wouldn't suggest minnesota, because right now it is -5 degrees with a wind chill of -30. and you being from florida, i don't think you have the slightest idea of how cold that is.

I couldnt even imagine how cold that is--I been in illinois with wind chills # 0 and i thought i would die.. It was a struggle for me to come outta my truck then--there just aint enough clothes to deal with that kind of temps. Call me a Redneck wimp if you must--but jeez that is friggen cold. Heck, 20 is cold to me---it would take a lotta gettin used to -5. As much as I love the countryside of wyoming, montana--it would take me a while to get accustomed to the weather out there.

The cold in the south, midwest Etc. is a LOT different than the cold out west! Y'all have something called HUMIDITY back there which makes the cold go right to the bone! I was more miserable at 30* in Florida than i am at 0* here...............

Thanks for making me laugh right out loud ... it's 6:30 a.m and I suspect I woke both my daughters. The upside is ... they'll go right back to sleep, and the house will remain quiet.

I'd bet a paycheck that you are right on all counts.

It's 50 degrees here in Cortez as I write this, and I have the heat on and am still cold. BUT ... I don't own a single pair of fuzzy slippers, or even a cuddly housecoat. The heaviest outerwear I have is a fleece jacket, you know, the sweatshirt type with a hood. I don't have any insulated anything, expect for my coffee mug.

The heat here sucks the life out of you in the summer, and the only way to beat it is to stay indoors, or perch at the edge of the pool or ocean, and the heat usually starts in May and lasts through November.

I have a theory that I can always add clothing to stave off cold, but can only remove so much clothing before I go to jail. The truth is, I would rather try to stay warm than try to stay cool. You can prepare for the cold, lay in wood to burn, buy heavier clothing, gloves ... I haven't owned a pair of gloves since the early 80s. As a last resort you can always snuggle up with someone who's a lttle chunky and generates a lot of heat. (smile)

Just like cold, the heat kills and there are few ways to prepare for it. It's a low down shame when you can have a heat stroke mowing the lawn at 9 o'clock in the morning, but it happens here all the time.

I'm more worried about my dog than I am me. Right now he is under the covers in my daughter's bed with only his nose peeking out. He's a short-hair and despite being about 10 pounds overweight , is a first-rate wimp when it comes to cold. If I move him to a cold climate he'll probably curse me and all my ancestors, but I'm willing to risk it.

As much as I dislike the cold, I do better in cold, even extreme cold, than in heat. I've been in WY in the winter when the temp was -15, not counting the wind chill, and was able to make myself comfortable. Down jacket, microfleece gloves, snow boots (so I don't land on my butt in the ice! LOL!) and I am good to go.

Summer of 2004 found me in Winslow AZ... 112 degrees and a broken down truck. 5 miles from the truck stops... I thought I would DIE in the 3 hours it took to get help. By the time we got the truck fixed... I was absolutely SICK! Sick at my stomach, pounding, blinding headache.. I crawled in the sleeper and slept for nearly 18 hours. Only reason hubby and I woke up was because his dispatcher got rather panicky and sent a state trooper to check on us after 18 hours. (Slept thru the phones and the QualComm.)

Exactly!!! People who live in that heat just don't understand how intolerant we who are not used to it are!!! It makes me physically ill, gives me a pounding headache, just like you!! I cannot tolerate any heat like that.

I have always said - it's easy to get warm, you can bundle up. But how do you cool off in the heat? Air conditioning is still very uncommon around here but it's getting more and more common every year and the hottest we EVER get is about 85 to 90 degrees F with 80 to 90% humidity. It's horrible but, thankfully, it's not often.

I just say to people, I have more months of the year to enjoy than you who love the heat of summer do!!
