What kind of insurance are you talkin about? If it's a company truck they are responsible for it. If it's medical insurance the company usually pays the drivers share and the driver pays for the family coverage if it's offered. I hope this helps with your question. If I can be of anymore help please let me know. Good Luck.

If you drive for a company, then the company insures the trucks.

thankyou grumpy dad, appreciate any advice from any and all.

I am planning to go to school to get a CDL with central refrigerated...I heard that they have terminal in LA .....I want to know how much a student driver like me will make during the first year and {they claim its .29c per mile} Can a person at least average $2,000 per month? ..when they say you will be home by a certain date, does that mean that they drop you off at your home town or do you have to make your way back from the terminal? Is there anything a new wannabe driver should look out for when classes start?

"Cal" You should be able to make that kind of money, depending on how much they deduct for the schooling. Unless they have you sign a note stating that you will stay there for a certain period of time to make up the cost of the schooling. As far as your home time is anybodys guess, different companies work things their own way. That would definently be a question I would bring up before I jumped into anything, espically if it means you have to leave the truck at the terminal until you leave again. I hope this helps and somewhat answers your question. Good Luck.

It depends on what your talking about your take home pay or your before tax's and road expenses pay. You have to figure all that in and it depends on what they are willing to run you. If you can average 3000 miles a week and eat on a budget and stay out of the toy shops you may make 2000 a month take home but you are going to be cutting it close real close since it is going to run at the least 15 dollars a day to eat of you only eat 2 meals a day out of the truck stops. And then you figure sodas or snacks and other things like showers and parking and scale tickets and the little things that the company should pay for but they want you to put out the money up front and then reimburse you when they get around to it. Making 2000 to the house is going to be tight at the very least. do your home work and check out all options before you do anything and talk to other drivers for the same company not just the recruiter because the recruiter will lie his ##### of to make the company look good as long as he gets you in the door he is happy after that its on you.

I'm not sure what their payscale is but if you keep your nose clean and run the miles with no accidents or incidents you should be okay. Remember your first year probly will not start until you get your own truck runnin your own miles. Hope this helps, Good Luck and keep us posted of your progress.
