Biker, what is "old school"? I have been riding dirt bikes for over 30 years. I ride a dual sport bike on the street, put around 15K miles a year on my street bike. I ride everyday to/from work, until there is snow on the roads.

It seems as though I ruffled some feathers. I didnt mean it in a demeaning way...just simpily expressing my opinion. IMO, one who zips in and out of traffic at break neck speeds on their 200MPH Hayubusa is not a biker in my eyes. A biker is one who respects other motorists and laws and doesnt use his agility to work his way through traffic.

I am not a trucker, but I do understand what your saying. No offece or anything here, but I am going to be honest here, I also think that driving down the shoulder is extremely dangerous!! I just saw one do that a few days ago, also whip in and out of traffic, as if no rules of the road applied to him?? The first words out of my mouth, when I saw this was WTF who does that guy think he is, thats crazy!!

Ya and things will blow over on the seashores of old Mexico

One thing I have noticed with the crotch rocket crowd is that, for the most part, inexperienced riders ride them. They aren't meant for long distance riding, and anything else really outside of going fast. I can out manuever half of them without even trying on my 900lb Goldwing.

lol - yeah.. and I LOVE seeing them on the highway, in, say, Wyoming. You know there's no motel in 200 miles for them to stop at.. by the time they get from Laramie to Rock Springs, their arms have GOT to be ready to fall off.

I also see them letting their feet dangle, since the "racing" position is only good for a relatively short time, before your legs fall off.

Yeah, I'm biased. I don't own a bike anymore - and I'd not buy a crotch rocket on a dare.

You're about 30 years out of date. HD is the only major builder still relying on air-cooled engines. By the end of the '80s, everyone else went to LC, even on off-road bikes.

By the way, don't hate me 'cause I'm fast...!

It's not how fast you drive
it's how you drive fast

i am pretty good at putting myself in others shoes. i never care if a motorcycle splits traffic or slides by in traffic. it's part of the deal that i am in a vehicle too large for the convenience. i used to ride my bicycle everywhere and even did some bike messenging in nyc. i dealt with people opening doors on me every day. the best one was a one way downhill...i was going about the speed limit on a bmx bike without even having to pedal, a guy looks the opposite way of the one way, and walks out right in front of me. i can still hear his shoes tap dancing as i am locked up in a rear wheel slide. we miss, and and he yells at me to slow the f--- down. i wanted to turn around and really go off on him, but it wasn't worth all the extra pedaling. he was an ### because he thought he was in the right just because i was on a bmx bike and his pointless job had him in a suit.

i ride, no harleys but it doesnt matter what bike you have, none of them are any fun in stop and go traffic. if you think that rider should just sit there and be miserable then turn off your air or heat and get out and push your truck at the speed of the traffic. anybody who gets agitated because a motorcycle squeezed by them needs their head examined. but, most people do need their head examined.

and as far as what dangers are on the shoulder? as long as there is not a 90 foot triple jump on the shoulder i think all of us motorcyclists can maneuver the bits of trash there. get a grip man.

worst case scenario, if a motorcycle splits lanes and hits me, he is still going to come up with the worse end of the deal, so why should it piss me off? even if you don't care about the welfare of the rider, insurance will take care of your priceless little ding.

for the record, i do not drive a cdl truck. i am just here looking into it. even if i drove, my response would still be the same.
