With 3 preventables in that short time, its is going to be really hard to find anybody to take you... Are they on your DAC?

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but be carefull, it takes about 30 days for things to hit a dac report hubby found out the hard way,he would not listen to anyone about it. He only has one of those on his, and no trucking company will hire him at all, they all say safety said no!!I dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but yes it will be diffucult, alot of the smaller private companies do not use the report. If your license is clean you might want to look into a trailer jockey position, or yard dog as some call it. Good luck.

Forbidden Exclamation Reality Check

A lot of the larger companies do not use dac either...

but the issue is not what is on the dac - but rather "why?"

Take a very hard look at why you had the accidents. Was it lack of concentration - skill or carelessness?

There is no one to blame but yourself. - you are responsible for the equipment - and if their is enough room to get into a spot or dock - then it can be done safely.

sounds like your accidents are all backing type accidents while at customers etc etc...

you may be over looking the basics you should have had drilled into you.

I had a guy driving for me a few years back that kept having the same type problems and he would blame everything and everyone else - but in the end I had to make him see that it was HIM... that precautions could have been taken to prevent all of the things he damaged.

his problem was focus and that he was too embarrassed to ask for help.

He equated being a rookie with being made fun of - and was fearful of asking anyone for advice or help.

we all start somewhere and learn the hard way sometimes -

You are asking advice on getting a small company to look at you -

I recommend that you look at yourself and fix the problems in your driving style that got you into this pickle to begin with.

(not trying to be harsh - but you have to be honest with yourself to be able to move forward...)

I drove for one company for 12 years. They also had an internal policy of terminating drivers for too many preventables in a short amount of time.If you did any damage to one of their trucks and did not report it,you were fired on the spot. So,yes,I saw a lot of drivers fired but they all knew the rules prior to hiring on.The odds are that in the course of your career you will have an accident. It might be your fault or someone else might be at fault.I did train drivers at this company for a while but opted out after I determined many were legally blind. What I mean by this is they would claim to know rules on how to drive safe then go out and do the exact opposite.I think the trick to not having a preventable is just slow down and go at a pace you feel comfortable with.Never let a dispatcher push you beyond the pace you feel comfortable with either. The load will get there, you'll get there safe,as will the truck. All right I know it's Sunday but I'll stop preaching.Back to your questions.Three preventables in five months, bad, but not a total job killer.Like others have said not all companies subscribe to USIS(DAC report). Those who don't ,simply want a copy of your DMV record.Your future employer will proably want to verify past employment so be honest about the accidents, they sound pretty simple and an employer will take this into account. Also showing your honesty goes a long way with a future employer.Last, local jobs.
I.Food service industry.Resturants,bars,fast food delivery
2.Sanitation,garbage haulers
3.Retail store delivery
4.Major leasing companies,Ryder,Penske to name a few, have work for local drivers
5.Building supplies.lumber among other things
6.Construction,things hauled to job sites
7.Rental companies, equipment hauled to job sites
8.Quarrys,stone,gravel,sand,blacktop
9.Healthcare,local clinics and hospitals

We all had to start some where and most of us did screw up along the way but I never hesitated to ask for advice.Good luck.

thanks

thanks for the advice guys... And no..none of the accidents were backing accidents. The first one, I backed up just fine, it was pulling forward and overlooking my trailers tail swing that got me. But....that was my very first time out alone...from that point on I backed pretty good. The other 2 had nothing to do with backing.
