| Now THAT is the kind of so-called embarrassing question I would like to see everyday. What with all the ills in the world, the distrust, the deceit and the cruelty, "hey mister, could you give a turtle a ride?" tickles me no end. I wish like heck I ran that route regularly, a turtle would be just the conversational companion for a long winded son-of-a-gun like myself. You should see the grin on my face.

Well now, that was a very happy ending to a bad situation. I hope you find a ride for your turtle. I hope your story of positive actions by drivers is oft repeated. Thank you, thank you, for sharing

| I agree whole-heartedly with BullGoose - I wish A) my company would let me carry pets B ) I was out of training so I could sneak the little critter on board, and C) was going to drive in that direction. Of course... the turtle might not make it to WA - my houseguest is a bit of a tortoise fan, and regrets having to give his away to the shelter when he moved in here (long, irrelevant story). He was a mess for weeks, after he discovered that his ex - through negligence - caused the death of his 75 year old tortoise this past winter. He immediately had the other two taken to the shelter in (near) Longmont, CO. Good place. I digress. Good luck, though, getting that four-legged RV home!

| All of you, thank you.....How sad for your houseguest.....I used to live in Boulder, so I know Longmont well..... My KYAG is for Kiss Your Ash Goodbye......I scatter cremated ashes, so I drive alot......well, I used to drive alot.....business was a whole lot better in Ohio, maybe because I knew more people there......since moving out here, and knowing no one, business is awful.....I have to work a "real" job to barely support myself.....no more "turtle hunting" for me....that's why getting this one back is so important.... Take care.... |

This was your actual job in Ohio? Very intresting. I've heard of some unusual jobs, but yours has to top the list. Good luck getting someone to transport your turtle. I always stop to help a turtle cross the road before someone runs them over. I helped a box turtle last week. |

| KYAG,Contact the humane society in Vancouver. Most people think it's just dogs and cats but it's not.Turtles are rescued too and can be adopted. You can have your turtle in Ohio shipped by air.The cost is about $75.00.Most major parcel carriers do ship live reptiles.DHL,UPS,etc.Packing a turtle for shipment is fairly easy.Do a search under, packing a turtle for transport or shipping a turtle.Last thing,Washington state may have laws prohibiting importing non native species.I don't no. |

And did you leave him on the roadside?.....He could have had a wondrful life with me!.....Next time, help him right into your truck and straight to Vancouver! In Ohio, my "real" job was dispatching for AAA, but the ash scattering did really well as a side job......Here, cremation, is the highest in the US, about 75%, but the problem is that most families do their own scattering...... |

| I love how you came up with your profile name. Mine is rather obvious so hello from someone who has scattered quite a few in my day. Alabama has a very low cremation rate but I have still had more than a fair share.

| it might be more posible to get several drivers together to help you accomplish this little run. i sit right now about 3 hours from your turtle and i drive otr. if i head west from here i would have no problem with a little passenger to take your way. how far would you be able to commute to pick him up ? just a thought btu it might be do able if one driver goes west as far as they can then hand over the turtle to another driver to finish the run. and i have to admit when i read the story i laughed but it was nice to see someone care about something so much and if i an help you re unite with your pet i would do say gladly. this won't be my first ride with a strange rider. i carried a puppy from Louisiana to florida before for a friend. |
