Wow, really? I have never seen that. Ever. I've driven lots of miles but never seen that. To the original question. If I'm ridin shotgun then I'll kick my feet up sure, it's a risk I'm willing to take. Just my opinion.

y'know - if I could, I might.. but at 6'6", getting my feet up on the dash - under any circumstances - is .. not comfortable.

Still, that would entail taking my shoes off, too.. Not good at all. probably melt the dash

have you tried to sit in most vehicles today, seats are awful...

My friend has seen a few serious injuries to passengers who do this, accident happens and airbag goes off. One woman broke tib/fib on BOTH sides, as well as her knees smashing her nose.

Oh, once I was a mechanic, and had a customer who had 15 or 20 little pins on her steeringwheel, well actually the airbag cover, like little butterfly pins you see old women wearing. I mentioned the risk to her about the pins becoming bullets and she promptly removed them and thanked me, as she never thought of it.

Comfort vs safety? Of course, they aren't thinking of it. Safety is inconvenient at best and a down right pain in the butt more often than not. How many people have you heard say those favorite phrases: " I am a good driver. I have never been in an accident." More to the point assumptions should be "How have I stayed out of accidents? and What would happen if I were in one now?" People don't want to be safe, they want to feel safe. Thus the contrariness of having a seat belt on while throwing feet on the dash, sleeping across the seat or turning around a changing a diaper from the front seat to the back. People are nuts.

My girlfriend does this crap, and as much as I tell her not to, she still does. I'm going to read your post to her and hopefully she'll change her ways.

Great post.
