USA What is your take home pay?

I read a lot about that you start out making anywhere from $30,000 to 50,000 a year. But my question is. What really is your net take home pay each week, or year? That's what I would really like to know. I would like to know if this is really worth the career change or not. What the trucking schools is telling me, I'm taking with a grain of salt. Here I would believe. Thanks

the numbers of what i make is nobodies business and alot of drivers have this attitude. alot of drivers will lie about the amount to just make it look better than what it really is. personally i make enough to take care of what i have to with a little spending money on the side after all bills are paid and that is all i have ever asked out of doing this. if you think you are going to get rivh doing this then you might want to look into something else. money is made but try to ru two households on what you make and it is real sad real quick. for the experienced driver we do it for the love of the road and not the money to be made.

I don't see this as someone who is being nosey. I see this as someone who is trying to decide the costs before deciding to step out on the road. Nothing run with wanting to get an idea of what to expect. Pays will vary from driver to driver and company to company. The thing to realize is it is not so much what you make out here, but what you spend out here that makes you or breaks you.

I'd say in the trucking industry it varies a lot! Some weeks are better than others and my husband won't come home until after 6 p.m. only to get up and do it again less than 12 hours later. Other days there is hardly any work. It greatly varies.

Varies is a good answer lol. I made enough last week that I severely questioned why I ever decided to do this as a profession and other weeks I will bring home 1250 after taxes.

If things were "steady", you could easily clear 50k take home your first year (I am in mine and could see it happening still but it's going to be tough) but if you get into one of the less than desirable companies, 24k is more the norm from the guys I have talked to (AKA CRST, Werner, JB and so on).

In order to make $50,000, you have to make about $1000 a week. Take out med insurance which is whatever it is??? and take out taxes which is about 80% of your income and....let's see...that leaves $12.65.

If you work for a company that's straight up about what they pay, you just figure it like normal. If they have complex formulas that look like actuarial charts...who knows?

You'd have to be a very lucky person to make 50,000 your first year. 30,000 is probably more reasonable, and that's before taxes/deductions, of course. How much that takes out of it depends on your personal tax situation. During your first year, you'll likely get many pay raises. After that first year, though, the raises don't come as often.

On a weekly basis, take home pay varies drastically. There's really no way to estimate it.

when you start out usually you are making <30cpm. Right now with the miles people are getting it's hard to make it if you have a family, plus you have the initial costs (tools, clothes, Gps,CB,cooler)

After the first year you will be ok.

I make 45-50k pretax. Out 2 weeks at a time and only 2 days off. First week is usually over $1000 and second week about 30% less.
