They also seem to forget that more and more of the states and the companies are requiring no idle. Someone can take a shower and then over the night, sweat like a pig and smell worse in the morning. It is hard to be fresh when you cannot sleep comfortably.

driving a truck is the only job there is that you take a private shower in a public place. it is not always capable to shower everyday due to driving and shippers and recievers. it is usually every other day for a shower if you are lucky enough.

the general public does not no what the heat inside of our trls is really like, and for the drivers that do the tailgate service during the summer you no how bad and how smelly it can get.
i do tailgate service, and by the end of the day i begin to STINK!!! bad!!! and the first thing i do is shower, i need to. look under " The Truckers Image " for my of this from me.

that is well said

Fifty Plus reputation is Neither Here Nor There
I just think to get the true answers that Joe needs, the next time he is at his national chain truckstop, he should just ask. Go up to the biggest hairiest and smelliest trucker, (the one that looks the absolute most wore out and probably has a name like Bear), just ask him and tell him your feelings about his odor. I'm sure after he had a late load, two blown tires, his fuel card wouldn't work, and he got shut down for 2 hours on an air hose violation............. after all that, I'm sure his answer would be very interesting.

I'm sorry.............some of the bathrooms at Burger King or Stater Bros. look that way too, shall we all bash on children and stay at home moms next?

Before you asked this question, did you know or even think of what the conditions of driving a truck for a living were like?
If we could all spend our 10 hr break at a truckstop with showers, Im sure there would be far less smelly truckers out there. Wait! If everyones at a T/S waiting for a shower, then how long will that line be?

Try tarping and strapping down a load without sweating or getting dirty. I know I can get pretty rank sometimes, and there's not much about it until I stop at night.

I have been at several Pilots where showers were not available because employees were too lazy to clean them . Sometimes I have time to wait , sometimes not . Pilots are often referred to as Pee lots on the CB and in forums . There have been many negative posts about them .

I find the responses in this thread interesting. When a four-wheeler asks a question about trucker cleanliness, drivers get defensive... but in a similiar thread started by a fellow trucker( [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. ), drivers readily agree there's a problem.
