DAC report question.

Honestly this might be incredibly stupid, but my boss and I have been doing some research on the trucking industry. We came across information about DAC reports and what they're for. However, something that has eluded us, and quite possibly because it doesn't exist, is what exactly DAC stands for.

Basically is DAC an acronym, a shortened word, or just industry lingo that has become automatically recognized?

[quote=Kajakfaucon;509357]Honestly this might be incredibly stupid, but my boss and I have been doing some research on the trucking industry.

We came across information about DAC reports and what they're for.
The DAC report covers all areas of your history under your Social Sercuity Number and DL number, (basically it is a background investagation in the following areas: driving, criminal offences, job history dealing with trucking (all the trucking companies that report to DAC).

However, something that has eluded us, and quite possibly because it doesn't exist,
DAC does exist you can find it under USIS.com. The report comes out of Tulsa, OK

What exactly dooes DAC stands for.
The truth is just know as DAC. What I do know is that it is very important for the truck driver to know what is in their report.

Basically is DAC an acronym, a shortened word, or just industry lingo that has become automatically recognized?
You got it, it is widely known in the trucking industy.

Here is some more information about what DAC is used for:

Your DAC report is to the truck driver what your credit report is to a consumer. When you are apply for a mortgage the first thing the bank checks is your credit report. If there is something negative on the report, regardless of whether it is true, you will be denied the loan. You DAC report is similar in that when you apply for a job as a truck driver the first thing the prospective trucking company checks is your DAC report. If there are any negative entries you will have a much harder time finding employment.

Your report consists of two parts.
The first is your MVR (motor vehicle report) which is your CDL driving record obtained from your home state.
Once a speeding ticket violation goes on your MVR there is nothing that can normally be done and certainly not without an attorney. Reopening a case is very difficult and costly. It pays to contest every moving violation citation because they stay on your record for three years and most companies require that you have no more than two non-serious traffic violations on your driving record.
Of course two serious moving violations in three years means that your license will be suspended and goodbye truck driving job.
In addition CDL drivers can no longer take advantage of driving school or deferment programs like the 4wheelers. This means that it is getting very difficult to keep a clean driving record if you are a CDL driver.
The second part of the report is your work record. This is simply what your former employers have reported. The trucking companies are paid a small fee for your record. This will include notations about any accidents, noted as preventable or nonpreventable, or other problems.

Hope this helps answers some of your queustions.

I always wanted to know what DAC stood for.I have checked mine once through USIS.I've seen court cases where lawyers didn't know what it stood for.Always just DAC.Here's the answer.Go to USIS,search industry, search industry solutions, search transportation market.DAC means Drive-A-Check services. That's the real acronym but I did see one that stated"Dazed and confused".The dazed and confused one proably only counts when you try to get a straight answer from them.

DAC is much more indepth now. They have access to things that were once considered "private" by many. There are actually 4 segments to your report.

Once you sign the release forms for employment. That information, including any additional information tickets, criminal records, arrest, fines, etc...now have the special ability to appear on your DAC.

Some information appears without input from any company or yourself.

Uncle Sam has found it's gold mine, with human data retrieval. And we're the guinea pigs.

Truckers are a wild card in the equation, when it comes to "control". The more data, the easier it is to keep tabs on their step children.

You hit it right on the head.
Just another way to keep tabs on us.
We still need to check this report because the report can give you another person's name, different race, sex, and give you a criminal record if your name is close to someone else's (Ha! Ha!)
A carrier ran a DAC on me they came back with most of the info correct but there was this guy who's last name was like mine, the male version of my name...boy! was I surprised to find out that my sex, race, other personal info had me taller and and weighing more then I do ( good old government stuff)
