What I mean is, what method does your company do.. do they give you a gas card with a limit. And do you have to be careful not to run your truck while sitting or something? Or its going to be you paying for those times using the air/cond while sleeping? How have these high gas prices effect the companies you are driving for?

I try not to eat too many burritos or drink too much pop. That usually keeps the gas down. As far as fueling , I use a T-Chek card with a $1000 a day limit, try to fuel at cheap places, and don't idle unless it's neccesary. Whether the company takes it out of your pay or not, we all pay for every screwup in the longrun,especially if you work for a small company.

Fuel with a Comdata Card. Company pays for half of Idle-Aire but I really don't use it if I can't idle I put screens in the windows with a fan in the summer in the winter I use heavy blankets thinking about an electric bunk pad or blanket

My company prefers we fuel the trucks at our parent companies terminals. This saves my division money over all as compared to paying truck stop prices.

By the way we "fuel" our trucks not gas them up.

On the occassions I am away from a company terminal with on site fueling I do have an EFS check credit card with an 800.00 limit on it per day for fuel (issued to me by the company in orientation). All receipts must match up to my log book account and be forwarded to the company each week.

As far as idling there are no current prohibitions on it from the company as of yet. Of course there are state laws you must be careful of. I idle at night to stay comfortable but other than that it is off or we are driving down the road.

I have couple of company supplied cards, but as an O/O I also use my own cards or cash as it suits me (it makes it easier to keep my logbook straight that way too ).

I think we'd fire any of our drivers that put gas in our trucks...

We're running a lot of APU's now, but everyone is self policing, and we've been able to save quite a bit of $ that way, some of which was given back in quarterly bonuses as promised.

I know a few drivers who installed gasoline
powered APU's.
Their reasoning is that in real cold weather, gasoline doesn't gel like diesel can.
BUT, ......... I've often wondered what kind of a hassle it is to find a gasoline pump on the diesel islands?
Seems to me that'd be an inconvenience.

Our company gives out Wright Brothers cards. You can use them almost anywhere - makes fueling a lot easier than having to go to one specified place - meaning I avoid truckstops at all costs!

Most companies give drivers a fuel card that has a daily limit.....

These cards usually are Comdata, TCH, Transflow and a few others..

Some companies will only allow you to stop at certian fueling locations, being specific to one company such as Pilot or a couple like Pilot and T/A.

Some companies will tell you the exact truck stop you have to stop at (state, exit number and truck stop) and some will even tell you exactly how many gallons you may put in.. Some may even charge you if you go over that amount like Hartland...


Idling?
Some don't care at all and yo can do what you want.

Some will offer you bonuses if you keep idle time low, they can tell how much you idle by computers in the truck sent to a satellite and back to them.. They can pretty much tell anything about fuel, mileage, location ext.. with that system.. (qualcomm is one such system)

Some will just yell at you for idling to much....

Now many states and certian cites across America have this new "no idle" law.. So, you can get a big ticket if it is 95 degrees out and your idling your truck in order to stay cool.. Truckers are sub human and animals get better treatment...

Well Schneider wants us preferably to fill up at their Operating Centers when possible. Otherwise, they have us go to Pilots. Apparently we can also fill up at Travel Centers of America, although Im not sure how much they like that.

I myself drive past two Pilots each day, the closest is 110 miles from where I live so I need to make sure I have enough fuel to get back there. I fill up there because they prefer it since Im not near an OC, although I fill up at either one.

I don't run many miles each day so I fill up every two days or so. Only use about 120ish gallons during that time...but I figure I don't want to push and try to make three, only to run out.

We have Comdata cards...not sure if there is a limit or not as I filled up a rental truck put in over 900 bucks of diesel in there.

As far as Idling...schneider does have idling limits, but I can't remember what they are at the moment. Right now, my idle time is zero as when i stop, i turn the truck off..same thing for anything else where Im sitting (ie...construction stuff...etc.). Unfortunately my idle goes through the roof in the winter as I park the truck in my town and come back at night to turn it on so it will run overnight if the weather gets too cold. Kind of sucks, but I dont know anywhere to plug it in either and since I don't sleep in the truck...not many options.
