Lefty and the Shadow

I ran into two of my favorite friends today. Lefty--who likes to drive in the hammer lane one mile an hour faster than the other vehicles in the right lane and never feels the need to get over or see who's coming down the on-ramp.

His cousin-The Shadow. He starts out by drafting me and making me feel like he's in some kind of hurry as if riding my bumper will push me down the road or something. Then he finally makes his way in front of me where he slows down...speeds up...slows down. About this time I realize that, although there's forty miles of open road around us, he likes the security of being next to someone.

I'm a loner...a rebel... you don't wanna get mixed up with me.....stay the hell out of my space.

Unfortunately, due to my truck being governed at 62, I am forced to be lefty sometimes. I would much prefer to pass quickly and safely, but for "safety" and "insurance" reasons I get to creep by those few trucks I can pass. Or even worse, when I am about to pass someone they see the big air force logo on my truck and decide they just can't allow themselves to be passed by me and put their foot into the fuel, usually leaving me in a cloud of black smoke.

I guess I didn't make it clear...I was referring to four-wheelers with all kinds of power who are just driving along in their own little world. Some just like the freedom of the hammer lane or the comraderie of running with the truckers. I feel sorry for you guys who are governed that low.
