Okay firstly, fainting goats ftw!

Secondly, I will USUALLY blow my horn, I am fairly active with the horn. If you piss me off (cutting me off, stopping/slowing without reason suddenly, turning in front of me with no signal, etc) you get the horn, how long and loud and many times depends on how pissed off I am. And as far as I am concerned my truck has an airhorn and no other horn. Who the heck wants to hear a truck that sounds like a friggen car?! Its like going to see a lion, and it gets up on that rock, and it lifts its head and... lets out a little mew? No sir. My truck is no kitten.

As for kids, I've actually only had this happen once where kids have asked for the horn, sadly, the kids were walking from the park to a school and I was in front of the school (this was the other day when an onion truck overturned in Iowa on I-29 and they gave us a scenic detour). I couldn't bring myself to blow the horn in front of a school during school hours. >.>

GOD WHEN DID I GROW SO OLD AND BORING?! /cry

I couldn't fathom giving up a chance to piss off school administrators.

My kids love to hear the horns. When we are driving, if traffic permits and won't mess up the flow, I will slow down next to one and roll the window down just so they can see my 5 yr old asking for them to blow the horn. To bad they can't hear him because he is screaming "blow your horn" at the same time. lol..
I do make sure that he gives them a thumbs up afterwards, or if all of the windows are down we all give the thumbs up, me included. If I can't and I have the cb on, I will acknowledge and say, "thank you for making my son's (kids) day".

I have only been scared by one horn, and it just happened to be on dh's truck. I knew he was going to blow it as he went past us, but he did it later then I thought and I about jumped out of my skin!!! He called me on the cell phone and could hardly breath as he was laughing so hard....

I do know that he will blow his every chance he gets, but first he tries to see if the driver knows that he might be doing that. He said the last thing he wants is to scare a driver and cause any harm to anyone in the car.

It tickles me to see the kids doing that. Pending on the surroundings if i will do it or not. If I am sure the driver aware, and not many around me, Of course i would blow it. But in heavy traffic, no, got to think about everyone's safety.

Rude? How is it rude? Nothing rude about it. It more rude sticking your nose up and ignoring it.

I wasn't referring to kids pumping their arm for the horn, I was referring to the fellow who said he told his kids to flip the bird to any driver who didn't blow the horn. And yes, I stand by my assertion that middle fingers are rude.

This has been one of the funniest threads I've read. It reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me. He said not too long after he got his driver's license he put a truck horn in his car just to mess with people. One time he and his friends were coming up behind a kid on his bike (probably about 12 or so) and right before they went by him they laid on that horn and he said it scared the kid so bad he crashed his bike and probably crapped in his pants.

I told him he was a moron for doing that (through my tears as I was laughing so hard).

So, how do you operate an air horn in a vehicle without an air compressor?

There are air-horn kits for cars. Back before I was less irresponsible, I used to put 'em in all my cars.
