The Horn

First off, let me admit that I am not a trucker.
That being said, I have to say that I do admire you fellows and everything that you do and sacrifice to keep this country rolling.
My question is a simple one, do you guys find it annoying when someone gives you the honk signal as you are driving down the road? I mean, is it something that you despise or something that you actually enjoy?
The reason that I ask is that my friend and I recently went on a road-trip to Montana, and tried to signal most of the truckers to blow their air horn with a fist pump out of the window. I remember from when I was younger travelling with my parents that there were a lot of truckers that would oblige us as kids. On this recent road-trip we noticed that there were not as many truckers that would sound off as we headed down the road. That's the reason that I ask.

In CA, some cities will nail you with a noise violation citation, and that goes for engine brakes as well.

I'll blow the air horn for kids, adults, not so much, unless she's cute. Sometimes when I go by kids on a secondary road who pump me to blow the horn I'll give them a couple of toots on the electric horn, which sounds like a Honda.

I usually don't blow the horn because it scares the poop out of the drivers around me. The kids in the car pumping their arm are expecting the noise, nobody else is and blasting them can be dangerous. I've hit the horn for the kids and seen the driver (their parent?) nearly jump out of the car.

I don't like to blow the horn unless there's not much traffic around. It tends to startle people. Usually I just wave at the kids. Most are happy just to be aknowledged.

I will blow it.. most of these people need to be scared a little bit anyways.. Get them out of thier zombie state of driving, sure wakes them up for a few... I look at it this way, you get scared of a horn then most likely you wasn't paying attention in the first place

I almost always blow my horn for the kids when they signal me. I have two children, ages 8 and 9. I know they love it when other truckers blow their horns for them. I do not blow my horn for another adult though.
