TO TINGLISH:
In Canada, DUI is as sinful as murder. When applying for the federal programs for border crossing (C-TPAT/F.A.S.T.) I have seen drivers with DUI's 20 to 30 years ago and Canada will not issue the ID. There is a program however where a driver who has been denied a border ID that will allow Canada to issue the ID but an attorney friend of mine in Canada tells me the average cost to the lawyer is approximately $2,000.00 (Canadian).

ROADMEDIC: A complaint should be filed with the feds in that case. Missouri used to keep stuff for 15-years until a complaint was filed. DAC is only responsible to the state from whom it receives the information. If the state provides more, then businesses like DAC will offer it.

It doesn't bother me, I have nothing in my DAC to hurt me. I just know that there are many things that get in there and never leave.

As far as the fair credit act, alot of the stuff stays on there alot longer than 7 years.

With computers so prevalent now, I look for more of the information to be improperly provided.

As far as filing a complaint, the damage is already done when a driver finds out. The new company now has the information.

So, even if I complain, they probably would correct the handling on mine, but still keep someone elses.

With DUI's it doesn't matter how old they are. Never hold back info on DUI's. Some companies won't hire you if you have had two, but will take you if you only had one - depending on the age of them. Other companies will take you if you had two.

Sarge - If you have to go to a company like Werner to get a foot in the door, you do it. Get the training, get some time under your belt, and move on. My hubby was with them for three months, and then moved on to a company that suits him and us much better.

i KNOW!!, that's what i was sayin, you have to disclose dui's, no matter how old they are, otherwise they may very well come back to haunt you.

I'm sorry but this is very dangerous advice. You fill the application out exactly the way they are asking the questions. If you hide anything and they find out you might as well just tear up your CDL and find another type of career. If it's not on your record then you best make sure they can not ever find it because if they do they will put the word out that you lied on your application and no one will touch you. And never volunteer more than what they ask.
