I am unable to give you any advice other then keep trying... Call all the large companies you can... may find a small company but they usually are harder to get on sometimes, just depends if that company is needing a driver badly at that moment...

I will tell you that things are pretty slow right now and companies get to pick the cream of the crop.... So, they simply will pick people with less of a risk then you if they are able... Right now they are able because the schools are pumping out drivers left and right when the demand may not be there to cover all of them.....

I know that there are companies that will hire you with 2 DUI's that are that old, but I can't remember who they are. Try Arrow or USA.

SIGH....

We all make mistakes and its like we will be haunted with the past for the rest of our lives, and that's sad right there!

Keep trying! Don't give up!

I believe your problem is talking with a recruiter right off the bat. I'm sorry but I do not trust any of them because it's obvious their affiliations are with companies and not the drivers. There are companies out there that will hire you and there are companies out there that are decent to work for. But I believe you have to go out and find them. If I had to do it all over again I would download a list of trucking companies in my area and then get out and visit the ones that fit my needs. Then if you can't find a job you could use the resources the school has or at last the recruiter.

GasHauler has it right. There are outfits that will overlook transgressions that old, but you will need to be up front with them. You may have to do some legwork and hit a bunch of companies, but you will find one. Keep your heels dug in and keep working at it. Don't give up because a few won't hire you. There are a gazillion companies out there and many will take you. You just have to find them.

Like everyone else has stated, there are companys out there that will hire you. Rejection is a part of life. I got rejected at least 100 times when I decided to go OTR. Mostly 'cuz I didn't log enuff states, but I contuned to call and try. Finally talked my way thru a door and had a job the next week. Keep your head up and call.

Good Luck and Good Truckin

Try Werner. My hubby had a pair of those from 15 & 20 years ago, and they hired him. He doesn't drive for them any longer, and found another company to take him on. Don't bother with Rhoel (sp?), as they won't touch you with 2.

Do recruiters usually work for the companies or for the CDL schools?

Also, best of luck Bill. Keep your head up man!
