I was going to get hired by schneider a couple of months ago and when I was doing the phone interview they told me I would get a urine test at home and when i got to orientation they would need a hair sample. I decided to pass on the job because they werent doing training anymore and I had been out of a truck for 2.5 years and needed a little refreshing I didnt think i could jump right in and pass a road test. I worked for covenant and swift in the past and never heard of any hair test until then.

There are lots of products out there to try and fake them out. From what i hear they dont work. This line of work Is not the right one IF YOU CANT BE CLEAN AND SOBER!!!!

My 2 cents!
Best of Luck to everyone!
Absolutely agree...this isn't the line of work you want to do if you worry about turning positive on a drug test. Do the world a favor (the driving world, at least) and stay stoned at home.

Real good to know...

that there are drivers, on duty, that are smoking high powered weed and convoluting their field test results. Just peachy! Smoking out of the truck, off duty is one thing, but the flagrant disregard that they display for the rest of us on the road and the regs makes it near to impossible to have any respect. Thanks!

So before I get the hell flamed out of me, let me start off by saying, I do not condone nor personally use any illegal drugs, or drink for that matter.

But are companies willing to accept special cases, in which the applicant for medical reasons can not do the pee test.

Long story short, I have a condition in which I have a "shy bladder". I can't pee on demand, or in uneasy situations. In every other job application before i was diagnosed, I was always told " well atleast attempt the urine test " and I would be there at the office for 6-9 hours attempting with no success. Eventually they have to do a cath on me which is about one of the most demeaning and painful experiences I've been through. Finally after a few years of this, I spoke with a doctor who said this was infact a medical condition. And the next job I applied for they actually took a hair folical test rather than having me go through the whole process again.

Think there's anyway in this god's green earth, that any company would be as understanding in the trucking industry? Or should I just give up on my thoughts in the trucking career now?

Thanks for taking the time to read my made for TV novel.

Arizona sets up drug testing checkpoints at the Port of Entries on occasion. Several times I have passed through while the checkpoints were up. If you haven't experienced this yourself, let me say that you would be amazed at the CB chatter about this and despite the fact that Blythe, CA has a number of good-sized truckstops, just try to get in one---there are trucks everywhere, all waiting for DOT to close down the checkpoints.

Dont give me the weight thing im not buying it . 4 Wheelers get in more wrecks . PERIOD !
Facts: Estimates of 41,000 to 45,000 traffic deaths occur every year within
the U.S.. Walkers and bikers account for 15% of the total traffic deaths each
year. Fewer than 9% of those deaths involve commercial vehicles. More than 80%
of those accidents are the fault of the non-commercial driver. Of those, death
related accidents only 4% of trucks are fatigue related. Drinking related
accounted for .06% of those accidents.

Fatigued ? maybe that driver coulda used a " BUMP " ?
Without taking a position one way or the other; operation of a motor vehicle, commercial or otherwise, is considered to be a 'privilege' not a 'right'. Further, the privilege to drive is conditioned by our consent to meet the various demands of DOT, too numerous to list, but with which we are all familiar. Therefore, the Fourth Amendment protections are surrendered by us when we sign that application for a CDL. In my opinion, one of the greatest drawbacks to driving, is the fact that, with so many traffic violations (not safety related) that carry mandatory 1,5 pt. assessments, it doesn't take much to find yourself sidelined for a couple of years. But, as far as drug-testing goes; it doesn't take much of an imagination to understand the chaos that would result without it, in a society such as ours awash in a sea of drugs.

A.D.D. Medication

A simple Urine Test will be given and will be sufficient for hire.

The results will be returned in 48 hours.

Please add your comments here on Drug Testing.
