#1)Stay off "party row". I agree, but there are times when these spaces are the only spots left to park, and when you are up against your 10, ya gotta park where spots are available, regardless... #2)Only use truckstops as a last resort? Where ELSE are drivers pulling a 53 foot trailer SUPPOSED to park? The rest stops/areas? LL's are there, too. #3)"Just say no" will only work if those LL's take your NO! seriously..more times than not, they think if they give ya 20 minutes or so, you might have changed your mind...Then, they come a-knockin' once again...there are so MANY that are pathologically persistent, that it takes extreme measures to get them to leave you alone.(and by extreme measures, I'm talking calling police(yeah, RIGHT! Like they care, LOL), or getting on the CB and telling folks she/he is infested with head lice, scabies, crabs, etc. Takes business away if drivers think they may take something home to family) Simply saying, "No!" does NOT work, most of the time.... ![]() ![]() :biggr in_25526:![]() :biggrin_25 51:![]() ![]() Judi Kay

| Ive never had a lot lizard approach me or my truck in my two an a half years on the road. But I always try to plan my stops away from major cities. But sometimes ya have to park in a big city or metropolis, then I just keep the curtains closed. Knock on wood never had one knock on my door, even then I peek through the curtain and if its not another driver from the company I drive for I wont even open the curtains or window, just let em knock eventually they will go away.

| I've been pretty lucky in the 25+ years I've been out here.I've had some pretty aggressive ones. But,for the most part, usually when I tell them "no","not interested","No thanks",or any number of ways of declining their offer, they usually go away. Some try again,But most don't.USUALLY! Most of the time it takes no more than a wave off of the hand before they even get close, sometimes not.But I will say this,"DON'T PISS THEM OFF"! They(or those their with) can get pretty nasty and sometimes inventive about pay back if you push the wrong button,so to speak. And if by some chance you do happen to tick one off.I can only suggest a really good pre-trip before you pull-off again.Like really checking your 5th wheel, tires, lights etc.....Not that I speak from experience or anything.LOL. |

| For the real aggresive one's I've found a nice cup of ice "if ya got one handy" to work real nice. Years ago when me & a couple buds of mine ran togther pullin buckets. We were down in Columbia SC. One ugly skank kept knocking on my buds truck next to me. Instead of him opening the fron doors, he sat up & opened the sleeper door. When the gals started to climb up she got a size 12 to the face. Granted was mean on his part but like he said, she put her foot on my freshly polished tank. I keep hearing these people say "they are people too" maybe so, but they don't deserve any respect! Like another poster said I'm not against prostitution at all, "Most" the one's you see in the T/S parking lot just re affirm my ideal that there should be a Humane Society for people, Strays get picked up & if not adopted in a set time frame put down. Save us that contribute from the headache of them & also get them out of the gene pool to boot. That may be harsh, but I get soo tired of seeing all the use less people that are dragging the rest of us down. |
