Re: Where do you buy your shoes? - One More Student Question

I got a pair of Justin work boots about 4 years ago and I wear em every day and haven't busted a stitch or broken a lace yet and I beat on those things like there's no tomorrow. They set me back about $175 but they're tough and feel better on my feet than any sneakers I've ever had. They're warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer, comfy, and water resistant and soft as long as I give em a mink oil rub down every 4 weeks or so.I have a nice pair of Wrangler "cowboy" boots I like too but by far the Justins are the best I've ever had.

YOU can't wear these babies out.
Plus Redwing guarantees the soles for the Life of the user and will replace the soles when worn out, whenever this occurs.
The BEST Redwing shoes/boots I've EVER SEEN is the Firefighters version which are expensive ($425.00 at 1995 price) yet are guaranteed(as above) for ones Life and have all the goodies some folk want. For driving boots, well, these are ones choice.

I've shopped at wally world for cheapie shoes which last longer than Pep Boys tires for 4-wheelers.

I've found that with boots you basically get what you pay for. If you go cheap you will regret it. Either they won't last or they'll be awfully uncomfortable.

I buy my boots at Stomper's in San Francisco, when I'm out that way. I refuse to wear anything but Frye harness boots in brown leather. They hold up to a lot of abuse, and they last for years before the soles wear off and the leather interiors start to blister.

You can't go wrong, choosing a style of boot that was good enough for Teddy Roosevelt.

I have two pair of steel-toe work boots I keep handy. One pair are Red Wings which I bought in a local shoe store in Maryland several years ago. The other are Wolverines which I purchased online from JC Penney on sale (the local Penney's store did not carry this style). Both pairs are made in the USA, they are comfortable and wear like iron. Wolverine imports a lot of its boots from China, look for the styles they still make in the USA, you will not regret it.

The best boot I've ever had is the Wolverine steel toe 10" Wellington work boot. I never slipped on wet concrete at the gas stations and they were oil resistances which was perfert for what I did. They are slip on so they're easy to get on and off when you have to crawl in the box.
